Job Description

Seeking an Acquisition Program Manager to support several projects within the Bombers Directorate and/or Fighters and Advanced Aircraft Directorate at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, OH.

The candidate will research, analyze, formulate, recommend, implement, and continually assess strategies for meeting cost, schedule, and system performance objectives, and for managing risks during development, production, and deployment of weapons systems, weapon system modifications, and supporting equipment.  Other duties and responsibilities will include development of statutory and regulatory documentation (i.e. milestone documents), contract documentation (i.e. Requests for Proposal and Statements of Work), and reports (i.e. monthly activity reports), and support of program management reviews, integrated master plan/schedule reviews, and other senior-level meetings and reviews as necessary.

The candidate shall have working knowledge of, and have demonstrated application of the principles, policies and practices of systems acquisition and program management as defined in Department of Defense Instruction 5000.02 and Air Force Instruction 63-101/20-101.

The candidate shall have working knowledge of, and have demonstrated application of the qualitative and quantitative tools and techniques for gathering, analyzing, and measuring the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of acquisition programs.  Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Development of integrated master schedules (IMS) and analysis of critical path and schedule execution using Microsoft Project
  • Analysis of cost and schedule execution using Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Analysis of program cost, schedule, and technical performance through integrated product team meetings, technical interchange meetings, and system engineering reviews
  • Management of risks, issues, and opportunities in accordance with Department of Defense, Air Force, and Air Force Life Cycle Management Center guidance

The candidate will assist in development and review of program office estimates (POE), update of funding documents, and development, coordination, and submission of Program Office Memorandum (POM) inputs into the Five Year Defense Plan (FYDP).

The candidate will assist in development of funds execution plans and monitor and manage funding obligations and expenditures in accordance with Office of the Secretary of Defense goals.

Candidate requirements include:

  • Secret security clearance or ability to obtain a Secret clearance.  Top Secret clearance or ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance is highly desired
  • BA/BS degree in a business or technical discipline, plus twelve (12) years of experience in Department of Defense acquisition program management
  • MA/MS degree in a business or technical discipline, plus ten (10) years of experience in Department of Defense acquisition program management or,
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and use of the Microsoft Office applications

  • Acquisition strategies and milestone decision briefings
  • Integrated Master Schedules
  • Contract (Section J) documents
  • Program Management/Execution Review briefings
  • Monthly Activity Reports

Work location will be at customer site, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.
