Job Description



The Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE)  Backup Administrator is responsible for administration, maintenance, and tuning of all Navy’s Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN) backup client/server architecture used to support the development, testing, and delivery of enterprise-wide modeling and simulation applications and services for the NCTE.


Candidate will be part of a team that performs system administration, system integration, hardware and software support, and technical and administrative support services for systems within the Navy's Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN).  Candidate will ensure that system backups are running properly, will schedule regular backup testing, perform upgrades of backup architecture, work with system owners to determine backup schedule for new and existing systems, and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.

Candidate must be able to support alternate work schedules during events and cybersecurity surge efforts.


- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related discipline, plus 2 to 4 years of directly related experience or equivalent education and experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 6 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

-          Experience with Microsoft Windows 10, Server 2008R2 and 2012, as well as experience working in Virtualized environments (i.e., VMware)

-          Experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux

-          Basic understanding of Active Directory

-          Experienced resolving basic technical issues by providing scripted guidance regarding software and hardware problems

-          Experience resolving more complex technical problems through a defined escalation process

-          Experience with upgrades, migrations and integration

-          Strong customer focus, including the ability to manage customer needs and multiple work priorities

-          Experience installing release upgrades

-          Must be able to lift at least 50lbs

-          Must have or be able to obtain Security + and Microsoft or Linux certification

-          Needs strong oral and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent judgment and self-motivation.

-          Works independently with little to no supervision researching new technologies or comparing technologies to meet the customers need while providing an unbiased opinion.

-          Ability to read and digest technical information

-          Ability to troubleshoot technical issues within multiple systems

-          Strong attention to detail

-          Strong customer focus, including the ability to manage customer needs and multiple work priorities

Must be a US Citizen and currently hold and able to maintain a Secret security clearance.
