Commonwealth Technology Innovation; an Alion Company is seeking a  Lead Contractor Program Security (CPSO) Officer to support a multi-faceted and multi-customer security position. The CPSO will report to the Lead FSO and Program Manager for these programs.

The CPSO will oversee, manage, implement, and execute area program security requirements under both the National Industrial Security Program (NISPOM) and the IC.

The Daily Responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily administration of all security aspects of assigned programs, personnel program access requests, visit requests, travel briefings, security training, COMSEC accountability, and maintains separate security facility and associated systems in support of contract.
  • Assist program management in understanding and implementing security initiatives and develop risk management methodologies to minimize cost while maximizing protection to the program's most sensitive assets.
  • Provide day to day security support that includes continuous assessment of procedures to identify shortfalls and provide appropriate recommendations for revising and improving security policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Operate and maintain a security education, training and awareness programs including indoctrinations, annual refresher training, debriefings, and event specific training.
  • Must be a proficient briefer capable of training large numbers of personnel.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills, interpersonal skills and professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Operate and maintain a document control system and conduct annual inventories. Operate and maintain a visitor control program including processing incoming and outgoing visit certifications, visitor reception, and escort.
  • Operate and maintain a personnel security program including proficiency in the initiation, recertification and continual maintenance of security clearances. Must be capable of utilizing Personnel Security Databases such as DISS and NISS.
  • Coordinate and work directly with the government customer and government support offices, building management staff, and host security/facility managers for all facility related issues, special events, and operating procedures.
  • Operate and maintain an information security program that includes the transmission, receipt and distribution of classified information, storage and accountability of classified documents, and the training of others in marking and classification requirements.
  • Must have leadership skills and be capable of prioritizing and managing dynamic workloads.


  • Education/Experience: Four-year degree preferred. Five to eight years’ experience preferred. Candidate must have the ability to work in a high tempo environment and manage work under pressure. Candidate must be accustomed to working in a controlled environment with change and security policies consistent with government/enterprise. Candidate must have demonstrated customer support, interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI
  • Travel: Less than 20 percent. Travel will be to additional work sites occasionally in support of security duties.
