Job Description

Alion Science is seeking Cyber Reverse Engineers/Software Developers to join members of our team. Prospective engineers shall independently be able to develop and code software solutions that provide needed capabilities in support of customer’s computer network operations (CNO) activities through professional software development to include data architectures, software assurance and security. Engineers will participate in design (software and otherwise) sessions, developing unique capabilities, and sharing insights and practices across government organizations supporting the CNO mission. Prospective engineers will explore various hardware and software platforms, analyze and assess computer network components, research vulnerabilities, reverse engineer embedded firmware and application code, develop tools, and develop exploits. Members of this team are highly motivated, self-driven, and able to work well alone or as a member of a team.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with software/hardware engineering with an emphasis on low-level development using C.
  • Experience with real time embedded operating systems (VxWorks)
  • Experience with binary patching and authentication countering techniques.
  • Experience with device driver development.
  • Knowledge of low level systems design and memory management.
  • Experience with virtualization using Qemu.
  • Experience with vulnerability assessments.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of IDA Pro, Ghidra or Binary Ninja.
  • Conducts daily hands-on programming work using, Assembly, C, C++, and Python.
  • Ability to analyze assembly code on multiple platforms (x86/x64, ARM, etc.)
  • Ability to analyze network protocols throughout the network stack.
  • Knowledge of GDB, OllyDbg, x64dbg, Wireshark, NMap, and Hex Editors.
  • Comfortable using both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend software development platforms and architectures as well as the hardware requirements for the support of development, testing, quality assurance, and production environments.
  • Modify existing applications when required and resolves technical issues as needed.
  • Translate system requirements and technical specifications into application prototypes and programming specifications.
  • Provide input for the configuration of applications and servers on which application programs run to ensure information security/information assurance principles related to the CNO mission are adequately addressed.
