Responsibilities/Qualification

 

Lead Marine Draftsman/Designer able to produce drawings for ships, vessels, and boats and lead a team of designers. Will be leading a team to (a) produce functional and detail design hull (outfitting, joiner work and space arrangements) and steel outfitting drawings, (b) produce piping and auxiliary system functional and detail design drawings (c) develop 3D Product Models for new construction ship projects.

Supporting efforts in turning specifications, sketches, requirements, etc., into end state functional and detail drawings. Review drawings to ensure compliance with specifications and standards

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience and 8-10 years related experience.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

  • Experienced Marine Draftsman/Technician familiar with commercial vessel design or Coast Guard or Naval vessels. Must have at least 5 years drafting/design experience in areas of structural detail design, structural steel outfitting design, joiner outfitting and interior space arrangements or piping design is a plus. Should have at least 3 year drafting/design experience in the marine environment.  Preferably with commercial vessel or Coast Guard or Naval type vessels. Being proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Ship Constructor is an asset.  Experience with other 3D Product Model tools will be considered as an asset.
