Job Description

In this Mid-Level Electronics Technician position you will be supporting the Foreign Materiel Exploitation (FME) Squadron of the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC). The mission objective is to help U.S. warfighters maintain their competitive edge by enabling the execution of timely exploitation of foreign aerospace and electronic systems for FME’s Global Exploitation Intelligence Group. The successful candidate will have experience with hands-on evaluation, testing, diagnostics, repair and reverse engineering of modern and legacy digital electronic systems. In this position you will assist the engineering staff in system testing, instrumentation set-up and operation, data collection and data analysis. Your work location will be at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton Ohio. The typical work week will be Mon-Fri 8AM to 5PM. DoD security clearance is required.

  • 5 to 15 years of experience in trouble shooting and repair of modern digital circuits.

  • BS in Engineering Technology, AS in Electronics or Engineering Sciences, or equivalent work experience.

  • Working experience with programming and reading Microcontrollers, Digital Signal Processing Chips, Pic Chips, PSOCs, and Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA).

  • Experience with code extraction from microcontrollers, EEPROMS, FPGAs, and DSPs is highly desired.

  • Manipulation of binary, hex, and other digital files.

  • Familiarity with check sums, Big/Little Endian encoding, Byte swapping, boundary scans, and JTAG functions.

  • Assist in system testing, data collection, and data analysis

  • Document work and assist in the preparation of test reports

  • Maintain professional interaction with customers and co-workers Must have or be able to obtain a DoD security clearance; Secret clearance to start ultimately a TS/SCI required.

    Preferred additional skills:

  • Trouble shooting, repair, and verification of electronic circuits (down to the component level) and subassemblies

  • Proficient with reading schematics and component level circuit tracing

  • Experience using schematic generation software such as Altium and AutoCad

  • Knowledgeable with the use of modern laboratory test and measurement instrumentation including oscilloscopes, and multi-meters
