Job Description

Seeking expertise in digital engineering/model-based engineering/model-based systems engineering (MBSE) to address a critical challenge for the DoD.

Digital engineering is becoming critical to the success of defense programs and your skills are in demand.

Do you want to work in a rapidly growing technical center that directly supports test and evaluation (T&E) across the Department of Defense and other government organizations? Alion Science and Technology is seeking talent with a background in Digital Engineering (DE), Model-Based Engineering (MBE), and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to support the Scientific Test and Analysis Techniques Center of Excellence (STAT COE), located at Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

The STAT COE provides rigorous T&E expertise to major acquisition programs and research projects and engages and mentors T&E practitioners. Our success over the last 9 years has created a demand to apply our T&E expertise to complex problems like autonomous systems and artificial intelligence through the application of digital engineering.

We are looking for a talented individual to lead the effort to define how digital engineering can support T&E activities and implement these capabilities across large programs and projects. You will be exploring new ground with concepts like Model Readiness Levels, how can DE inform the test strategy, identification of standardization needs for data and models, and validation of models before hardware is produced.

The STAT COE provides tremendous professional growth opportunities to improve your technical knowledge, hone your practical skills, and broaden your experience. The STAT COE is a collaborative and energetic workplace where members discuss challenges, work together to solve problems, and provide practical products to our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Digital Engineering project to include schedule, deliverables, and reports
  • Manipulate relevant software packages and provide critical feedback on MBSE structures
  • Coordinate with other T&E experts to develop test strategies and plan test designs
  • Engage and mentor T&E practitioners in DE and MBSE as it applies to T&E
  • Communicate solutions to leadership orally and in writing, clearly and accurately
  • Provide specific recommendations, best practices, case studies, and lessons learned

Required:

  • Demonstrated experience in digital engineering to include using model-based systems engineering tools including CAMEO or SysML like tools
  • BS in systems engineering, industrial engineering, operations research, engineering discipline, or similar field
  • SECRET clearance
  • US Citizen

Preferred:

  • 10 years experience with digital engineering to include MBSE and relevant software packages
  • Experience with methods such as design of experiments and reliability planning
  • MS or PhD in systems engineering, industrial engineering, operations research, engineering discipline, or similar field
  • Experience with Defense T&E
  • Experience with Defense Acquisition
  • TOP SECRET clearance
