Duties & Responsibilities
- Working with Alion and government engineers, lead the design and development of:
- Weapons control electronics simulators
- Automated test stations for complex electronic systems
- Leading hardware design efforts, included Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), cabling, test equipment selection, and power system designs
- Leading the integration of electronics with test software such as Labview
- Performing redesign of circuit cards and assemblies to mitigate obsolescence issues
- Integrating electronics into a larger system including VHDL firmware and software troubleshooting
- Supporting integration of electronics into weapon systems
- Performs an assortment of complex engineering duties such as the planning of manufacturing and the installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical apparatus.
- Provides existing support to activities in the use of electrical devices and energy for commercial, domestic, and industrial use.
- Design and develop electronics and circuits.
- Perform product testing; create models and prototypes.
- Develop and document electronic schematics for products.
- Performs a variety of engineering work in designing, planning and overseeing manufacture, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of electric or electronic components, equipment, systems, facilities, and machinery used in generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization of electrical energy for domestic, commercial, and industrial consumption.
- Works directly with engineers in other disciplines to augment production size and value.
- May provide work leadership and training to lower level professional and technical staff.
- May act as internal consultant providing technical guidance on most complex projects.
- Create design documentation including: Schematics, Parts Lists, Wiring Diagrams, Block Diagrams, and Mechanical Drawings to be used in a Technical Data Package
Qualifications:
- Experience designing Printed Circuit Boards
- Design of electronic systems using FPGAs and Single Board Computers
- Experience troubleshooting complex electronics systems including custom PCBs, cabling, firmware and software integration
- 10 or more years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a master’s degree is preferred.
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
