Alion’s expertise in wireless communication is unrivaled.  This includes 50+ years of experience performing complex RF Engineering analysis for DoD customers, civilian government agencies, and commercial companies worldwide.  Our expertise in collecting, analyzing, and formatting spectrum data, including RF measurement, frequency assignment, spectrum certification, LiDAR, and other geo-referenced data, enables us to produce refined RF modeling and simulation tools and applications with the reliability and precision needed to assure spectrum access and control.  Alion’s analysis-driven tools support diverse tasks such as spectrum forensics and deconfliction, testing for coverage amid urban clutter, and antenna site planning.  Alion’s Radio Frequency and Electromagnetic Spectrum Engineering Operations (RESEO) offers a variety of work, from projects supporting international satellite coordination to countering IEDs.  Our work is increasingly important in a world that depends on well-coordinated, interference-free spectrum access.

This position will support the NAVAIR AA15100 – Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Aircraft Division at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, MD in the performance of E3 Systems Engineering and Electromagnetic Compatibility for all naval aircraft, support equipment, and weapons systems.

Responsibilities

Applies E3 engineering principles to plan, design, and implement tests for Navy avionic systems and Naval airborne platforms and weapons

Reviews manufacturer test plans and test reports for adherence to Navy test requirements

Attends and witnesses’ tests of Naval avionic systems and airborne platforms and weapons to ensure E3 requirements are properly defined and implemented

Prepares engineering and technical reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation. Applies engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration and qualification testing

Manages schedules, laboratory space, test equipment, and test personnel to assure test and evaluation schedules are met

Position requires hand-on test experience, preferably in MIL-STD-461 testing of avionics systems and communication, navigation, and sensor systems.  However general qualification and certification test experience will be considered if applicable. Familiarity with laboratory test automation software and experience with automated data processing software programs is considered a plus

Position requires travel to California and Iowa to witness testing two or three times each year

Qualifications

Knowledge of engineering principles, methods, and techniques within a specific area of expertise

Knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software

Effective organization level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics

Two or more years of experience in an E3 engineering position.

US Citizenship and a DoD Secret security clearance
