Job Description

M & S Senior Systems Engineer- NITE:  Responsible for supervising the efficient operation of the laboratory to ensure accurate and timely installation and integration of systems and portable trainers in support of FST and other scheduled training exercises.  Supports the implementation of new systems and advances technology in the modeling and simulation center.  Oversees the daily coordination, maintenance, set-up and functioning of TTGL-GH distributed training center.  Establishes quality control and quality assurance policies, reviews all quality control procedures, and ensures routine maintenance is performed on lab equipment and operating modules IAW with prescribed operational standards. Performs and supports engineering and operational testing activities to enable the efficiency, effectiveness, and interoperability with the operational network.  Tests, evaluates, and documents results that support the enterprise architecture and component design, including current and target architectural views, associated standards, and transition plans.  Builds and maintains an inventory database, and tracks and monitors connections, hardware and software to remain abreast of lab assets.  Conducts data analysis and assists software developers and other technical personnel in testing, verification and installation of system components and equipment.  Provides budget inputs and recommendations for in-process improvements and upgrades/modifications to the lab.  Performs troubleshooting of both hardware and software to maximize system availability during Fleet Synthetic Training events.  Coordinates VTC sessions for FST events ensuring timely setup of all scheduled and pop-up conferences.  Performs Cisco Call Manager Systems Administration installing, configuring and maintaining all Cisco VoIP phones for FST events including, but not limited to, installing IPIX, VOSIP, VOCENT subscriptions on phones that have a need to communicate on tactical circuits and secure Point-to-Point communications. Coordinates with install teams for joint facilities/shipboard VoIP phone installation/configuration. Develops and circulates FST event VoIP phone directories.

Education and Experience:

Typically requires a high school diploma plus eight or more years of experience.  In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived equivalent exchange in years of applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
