Job Description

Alion Science and Technology is searching for an Enterprise Architect.  The Enterprise Architect ensures that the overall enterprise level architecture roadmaps, models, representations, initiatives, capabilities and standard components used by the enterprise to perform all business and technology related activities are cataloged, developed, coordinated, communicated, maintained and enforced.

Location: Dayton, OH

  • EA may work closely with Solution Architects and play a role on specific innovative initiatives to ensure the optimal delivery of solutions that significantly improve the business operations while being aligned with enterprise goals and strategy.
  • Must have relevant experience in enterprises analysis, data analysis and solution assessment and validation techniques and can quickly adapt to our custom Agile framework.  They will have excellent logic, situational awareness, attention to detail, a strong sense of ownership, and an urgent drive to make a difference.
  • The EA will also rely on their data analytics skills and experience, using continuous feedback and learning to enable incremental delivery, minimize waste, and increase value by ensuring alignment of technical vision and roadmaps with our evolving business needs.
  • Provide oversight to ensure business-driven IT architectures, supported by analysis of current state / target state transformations, and target state option selection.
  • Responsible for designing a technical solution that requires understanding of how different parts of the business work together.
  • Must be able to recognize the corporate strategy and realize all business processes that define how our enterprise achieves its strategic goals.
  • Must understand technical trends, innovations, risks and be a visionary.
  • Must constantly deal with a rapidly changing business environment,  a fast-pace technology evolution while moving between various business layers.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for partnering and collaborating with leadership, internal and external stakeholders, executives and solution architects in order to define and communicate the technical vision, maintain an aggressive architectural roadmap and provide oversight to incremental architecture and design efforts.

Education, Certifications, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics or relevant discipline.
  • Master’s degree in Enterprise Architecture and Business Transformation or relevant discipline preferred.
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience supporting teams within a complex, fast-paced, data-intensive, milestone-driven environment aimed at transforming and enabling a service-based organization.
  • Deep experience with using common architectural frameworks, preferably  Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) or the Zachman Framework, in providing a formal and structured way of viewing and defining an enterprise.
  • Experience with Unified Modeling Language (UML) or other relevant enterprise level modeling frameworks and tools.
  • Experience with using common architectural design patterns as well as system architecture, design, and testing.
  • Experience with transforming legacy data and systems to a modernized platform.
  • Experience with system architecture, design, and testing.
  • Detailed hands-on experience and understanding of medium to large system developments/ modernizations.
  • Experience in crafting compliance strategies involving data storage, metadata management and change control.
  • Experience with Enterprise Information Management products, services and solutions that enable digital workspaces such as OpenText, VMware, and Oracle preferred.
  • Experience with migration of existing legacy infrastructures to Cloud-based platforms preferred.
  • Proficiency with information technologies in a secure network environment.
  • Current understanding of best practices regarding enterprise level system security measures.
  • Experience in determining and implementing build versus buy strategies
