Job Description

FST TCITS Technical Trainer - NITE: Assist ships/shore facilities in the FST architecture configuration and use of communications, C4I, Tactical Data Links, Navy Combat Systems, SQQ 89 OBT / Training Control Device (TCD), Battle Force Tactical Training (BFTT), BFTT Electronic Warfare Trainer (BEWT), Global Command and Control (GCCS) and Joint Semi-Automated Forces (JSAF) training systems.  Transport all necessary equipment to multiple locations and participating ships. Collect, analyze and report on training participation and performance for FST-U and BMD events.  Liaise with training commands (TTGL/NWDC) and make recommendations for in-process improvement in the performance of FST/BMD program or helping ship participates to solve problems with installed equipment.   Provide organizational and technical assistance to ATGN exercise development and execution. Liaise with shipboard technical leads for scheduling of equipment install/de-install. Integrate shipboard combat systems with the NCTE Synthetic Training architecture using various Fiber Optic and Ethernet networks.  Verify installation and assist with troubleshooting for all NCTE pack up equipment onboard US Naval Ships and shore sites to include the NCTE legacy Pack Up Kits (PUK), Improved Pack Up Kits (IPUK), Cisco Voice over IP Phones (VoIP), ILAU, BFTT Electronic Warfare Trainer 2 (BEWT 2) iPuk and Laptops.  Conduct shipboard installations and connectivity for ATG Norfolk-supported events that utilize JSAF as scenario generator to include FST-U 2.4 Basic Phase, FST 2.1B Shipboard Training System Connectivity checks and BMDQ.  Support the configuring, loading, and updating of shipboard cryptographic software for the KG-175D (Tactical Local Area Network Encryption) systems. Maintain all installed Ethernet and Fiber Optic LANs to include fabrication and repair of fiber/Ethernet. Support crypto installation requirements for ships in all FST/BMD events.  Considered subject matter integration experts at ATGN for the ACTS, AWS, IFF, SQQ-89 OBT, AN/SLQ-32, ACDS, SSDS, TSSS, BFTT, BOPC, BEWT/BEWT II tactical/training systems.  Document training system deficiencies identified during testing and exercise execution.  Prepare After Action Reports (AAR) and any in-process/recommendations for improvement in support of Fleet Synthetic Training events and exercises.  Conduct quarterly Pier Riser checks for over 61 piers at both Naval Station Norfolk and Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek.

Education and Experience:

Typically requires a high school diploma plus eight or more years of experience.  In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived equivalent exchange in years of applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
