Job Description

Enlighten, an Alion company is looking for an experienced Geospatial Data Analyst / Scientist to support our government customer in Washington, DC. This role will serve as the primary representative to our government customer and will work closely with Analysts to create and maintain a variety of analytical and mission-oriented GIS/visualization data. The successful hire will also perform analysis of assigned GIS areas, which involve complex methodologies for which few or no precedents exist. Advising on methodology, analytical approach, and integration of selected functional subprograms for complete coverage of all aspects of GIS products.  Exploiting multiple geospatial big data environments for insights that can be automated at scale with developer assistance. Preparing data visualization products from your analysis that turn into finished intelligence products and reports. Working in a dynamic environment with ever evolving requirements. Scripting in python or model builder to automate geospatial workflows. Working with data to enable software engineers to build automated tipping and cueing and/or alert generation tools.

Security Clearance:

  • A current U.S. Government Security Clearance is not required on day 1, but will be processed for a clearance and therefore all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. Can also consider candidates with a current Secret or TS level clearance as well.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline is highly desired.  Educational requirements may be adjusted for applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working with spatial data and map-based visualization tools.
  • Applied GIS work and familiarity with ESRI products and/or QGIS.
  • Python coding and/or SQL writing - basic scripting or jupyter notebook experience, but not necessarily full-time coding.
  • Intel Analyst Experience in any of the following disciplines: open-source exploitation, targeting, geospatial intelligence products, or statistical analysis.

Desired Skills: 

  • Master’s Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related discipline
  • Prior experience working with the U.S. Coast Guard
