Position Summary

The Information Technology Manager manages all IT activities in the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manages team that provides technical assistance to computer system and network users.
  • May also have oversight for a data center.
  • Provides 24/7 technical support for computers and associated networks.
  • Manages a team of support personnel who troubleshoot IT issues. Implements policies and procedures regarding how problems are identified, received, documented, distributed, and corrected.
  • Ensures maximum issue resolution in minimum time to meet Service Level Agreements.
  • Evaluates new information systems products or services and suggests changes to existing products or services to better aide the end user.
  • Coordinates the preparation of bid specifications for required purchases (e.g. computers, software, (email, firewall, backup) and a variety of parts, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items.
  • Directs, establishes, plans and implements the policies and procedures to support the organization's technical support services.
  • Manages the deployment, maintenance, support and upgrade of servers, desktop PCs, hardware, software, operating systems and distributed printers.
  • Monitors technology trends such as emerging standards for new technology opportunities.
  • Performs additional duties as required.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field.In some cases, education may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years applicable work experience.  Work experience may be adjusted  for specially recognized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technologiy or labor market. shortages as reflected by market survey data.  An advanced degree in Information Technology or related field is desired.
  • Requires (7) years relevant Information Technology and five (5) years of managerial experience with DoD efforts.
  • IT Industry certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Effective organization skills.
  • Must be a US citizen. An active Top Secret clearance is required for this position.
