Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the research, design, coordination and conduct of Special Operations Joint Task Force (SOJTF) level exercise(s) that implements the capability of 1st Special Forces Command (A), Special Operations Joint Task Force headquarters staff.

Qualified candidate will be able to build exercise scenarios/frameworks based on the unit Commanders¿ training objectives, with the purpose of improving the SOJTF Headquarters¿ staff¿s readiness and capability.

Examples of  training objectives are (however not limited to these): exercise mission command, exercise and refine battle rhythm and staff processes, execute and assess the effects of integrated lethal and non-lethal Special Operations Forces (SOF) operations, plan and monitor joint and coalition SOF operations, develop and maintain a joint and inter-agency intelligence estimate that enables a comprehensive targeting cycle, counter enemy electronic warfare and cyber operations, and maintain mission command capabilities in a degraded communications environment.

Facilitate the SOJTF Headquarters meeting the training objectives; examples include but are not limited to: establish a task force, provide command and control, conduct joint force staff operations, conduct special operations activities, conduct joint intelligence operations, manage information/surveillance/reconnaissance (ISR), coordinate personnel recovery, integrate multinational and inter-agency participation, and provide operational sustainment. 

Provide services, between the hours of 7:30 AM ¿ 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, except federal holidays or when the Government facility is closed due to local or national emergencies, administrative closings, or similar Government directed facility closings. Personnel will have routine access to Government-controlled facilities.

  • Minimum Education Requirement:  Bachelor¿s degree.
  • Special Skills/Qualifications Required: Graduate of U.S. Army Special Forces Officer Qualifying Course and graduate of a U.S. military officer¿s intermediate or senior level school. Or graduate of U.S. Army Military Information Support Officers Qualifying Course and graduate of a U.S. military officer¿s intermediate or senior level school. Or graduate of U.S. Army Civil Affairs Officer Qualifying Course and graduate of a U.S. military officer¿s intermediate or senior level school. Or graduate of U.S. Army Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course (or Air Force, Marine, Navy equivalent) and graduate of a U.S. military officer¿s intermediate or senior level school (including other Department of Defense equivalents). 
  • Minimal Background/Experience Required:  One year experience in Special Operations Forces Headquarters staff position specifically performing joint operations. Or one year experience researching, planning, preparing, coordinating, and executing Mission Rehearsal and Command Post Exercises (MRX/CPX) focusing on Theater Special Operations Command (TSOC), Special Operations Joint Task Force (SOJTF) and/or Joint Special Operations Task Force (JSOTF) scenarios to train SOF units. 
  • Additional Desired Qualifications/Experience/Characteristics:  Graduate of a Joint Forces Staff College program or school such as the Joint and Combined Warfighting School (JPME-II), Joint Advanced Warfighting School, Joint, Interagency, and Multinational Planner¿s Course.
  • Graduate of one or more of the following Joint Special Operations University (JSOU) (or equivalent) courses:
    • Irregular Warfare Applied Intelligence Course, Joint Civil-Military Operations Campaign Planning Workshop, SOF Resource Management Course, and/or Irregular Warfare Advanced Course, and/or other JSOU or equivalent course(s).
    • And/or knowledge in command advisement, strategic communications, information management, executive decision-making, and strategic thinking.   
    • And/or knowledge of strategy-level theory, National Security Strategy, and National Military Strategy.   
    • And/or knowledge of the Joint Operating Environment.
    • And/or knowledge of strategic national guidance as it relates to operational plans and campaigns, and how that further relates to tactical-level application and strategic relevance.
    • Experience with intelligence systems acquisition capability, Advanced Military Intelligence relating to Irregular Warfare and/or SOF Operations.   
    • And/or knowledge of regular versus irregular intelligence support, Armed groups and irregular movements, intelligence support to Unconventional Warfare (UW), and UW campaign planning factors.  And/or experience in providing intelligence support to influence operations.   
    • And/or familiarity with countering irregular threats.
  • Security Clearance: Secret clearance
