Job Description

The Knowledge Operations Management (KOM) Web Developer I position assists AFCENT KOM Section in implementing web-based knowledge and information management solutions in support of USAFCENT Knowledge Management Plan. They will develop and support USAFCENT SharePoint sites, customized pages, dashboards, etc. at the direction of the Knowledge Management Officer (KMO) on NIPR, SIPR, and coalition domains. The KOM web developer will train the staff on SharePoint use and coordinate for appropriate user access to USAFCENT SharePoint sites.

Additional tasks and responsibilities required by this position include but are not limited to;

  • Create and manage SharePoint dashboards and other interactive client-side rendered SharePoint solutions using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
  • Teach use of SharePoint and custom USAFCENT SharePoint-based tools to staff. Ensures understanding at all levels of the organization.
  • Maintain document libraries and archives of key USAFCENT information on SharePoint.
  • Provides inputs to the USAFCENT Knowledge Management Plan.
  • Contribute to multi-platform, multi-public message dissemination plans as directed by the KMO.
  • Maintain currency as the AFCENT KOM web developer by identifying and attending applicable training and formal schools that discuss/teach SharePoint or web development practices that are applicable to currently adopted technologies with approval of the KMO.
  1. Two years’ experience administering Microsoft SharePoint site collections with knowledge of features and configuration options.
  2. Must be able to build custom SharePoint sites, libraries, and lists.
  3. Understand the use and development of SharePoint or NINTEX workflows.
  4. Must be able to make client facing web solutions using contemporary HTML, CSS, and JavaScript practices while supporting legacy, mission critical IT infrastructure.
  5. Familiarity with the front end development ecosystem: frameworks, libraries, design systems, tooling etc., including those that apply to SP13 and SP16.
  6. Can work well independently or in a team.
  7. Can translate non-technical customer requests into products that bring immediate value while maintaining strategic view of how new products fit with existing solutions from a design and UX perspective.
  8. Must be able to collaborate with the customer during the development process to identify emergent or changing needs and then can adjust product development to match.
  9. Must have or be able to gain a DoD 8570 Compliant tier 1certification and maintain certification.
  10. Have experience creating, implementing, and refining processes


  1. Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Certification desirable.
  2. Knowledge management experience or certification
  3. Experience with SharePoint’s JSOM and Rest API
  4. Three years’ experience on a numbered AF, component command staff or higher level, or equivalent civilian experience.
