Job Description

Position Summary:

The Lead Biologist performs/manages the full range of duties involved in conducting biological projects in the laboratory. Position is based in North Chelmsford, MA


  • Toxicity testing, sample analysis, and microbiological testing
  • Field sample collection and in-situ aquatic toxicity and water chemistry testing. 
  • Mentor and provide supervision to less experienced biologists.
  • Prepares and provides formal briefings to staff and customers and participates in technical discussions at project review sessions and in negotiations with the customer.
  • Acts as task leader in efforts that are highly complex in scope.

  • Provides work leadership to less experienced Biologists.

  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a Ph.D. in biology, wildlife, natural resources, or a related scientific discipline and 2 years of experience; a Master’s degree and 6 years of experience; or a Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of directly related experience.
  • direct experience with a variety of biology concepts, practices, and procedures including field surveys, water quality assessments, species specific and general surveys, mitigration monitoring.
  • Wetland delineation,  report writing, permit applications, plant community mapping, sediment control assessments and monitoring,  and database management.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Must be US Citizen; no sponsorship available.
