 Position Summary

Under immediate supervision, the Logistics Analyst develops and implements policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure effective and economical support for manufacturing or servicing of products, equipment, and systems.  Controls the efficient flow of goods, services, and information between point of origin through customer placement in order to meet customer requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs all activities involved in the management of product movement.  Plans, develops and implements programs to coordinate physical distribution, order fulfillment, inventory management and control, and contract management activities.
  • Duties include the gathering and analysis of information on basic to moderately complex product plans and project objectives, providing tracking and status reports, and support for ensuring distribution and delivery commitments.
  • Analyzes basic to moderately complex contractual documents, technical data, customer usage data, customer maintenance practices, customer operation characteristics, and related reports to determine requirements.
  • Assists in the execution and continuous improvement of standard logistics processes, such as the replenishment system, data interchange systems, demand management, electronic data systems administration and related functions.
  • Develops logistics plans for facilities, personnel, equipment, spares and maintenance.  Assists in the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure quality and cost control.
  • Assesses and recommends the feasibility of proposed approaches to solve basic to moderately complex problems.
  • Prepares and presents reports, studies, cost analyses, and briefings to staff and customers as needed.
  • Participates in technical discussions at project review sessions and in negotiations with the customer.
  • Builds relationship with strategic customers through logistics initiatives.
  • Researches logistics technology advances and applies appropriate technology in order to improve logistics processes.
  • Integrates learning from customers, competitors, operating entities, distribution, transportation, customer service, other industries, industry groups, and professional training,
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree Business Administration, Finance or a related discipline plus 0 - 2 years of directly related experience.
  • In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for comparable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

  • General knowledge of industry practices, techniques and standards.
  • General application of concepts and principals.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.
