Responsibilities/Qualification

 

Position Summary

Works with SUPSHIP GC, NAVSEA customer, and Contractor Team to Support verification of design and integration of the Ship Systems and Machinery Control System (MCS) through shipboard testing.

Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Coordinate Shipboard Test Procedures (TP) for MCS Integration, Ship’s Power Generation, Electrical Distribution System, Propulsion Systems, Auxiliary Systems and Damage Control System.
  • Review Shipyard Engineering Test System Assurance (ETSA) memos, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Test Index Change Request (TICRs) and Software Trouble Reports (STRs).
  • Coordinate Shipyard Integration Plans for Build to Test Document.
  • Ship Checks for ECP Reviews, TP Development and Test Conduct.
  • Track Production of MCS and Electrical Plant Installation supporting Test Plan Milestones.
  • Matrix for tracking of Test Completion in support of Milestone Events.
  • Coordination of input for the preparation of Corrective Action Reports (CAR) and Quality Deficiency Reports (QDR).
  • MCS Drawings and MCS Signal List Changes and Discrepancies.
  • Reduction in force of MCS Test and Trials Support increases likelihood of delays and disruption to shipboard testing schedule.
  • Review of technical data, CDRLS, test procedures and design change documentation without essential subject matter expertise and experience increases risk of unintended consequences or more costly solutions.
  • Support Electrical Distribution and Generation test planning: Review drawings, participate in test documentation development, analyze readiness of ship electrical circuits to support planned test events, mitigate test problems; Support LHA MCS build updates – writing of shipboard operational verification test procedures;

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related scientific discipline plus 5 to 7 years relevant work experience.  Master’s degree preferred.  Degree(s) must be in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related discipline.
  • In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years of applicable work experience.  Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
  • An Active Secret Clearance is required for employment. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Demonstrated command of engineering principles, methods, and techniques in area of expertise.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software.
  • Effective customer and organizational level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
