Position Summary

Under the direction of the Corporate Recruiting Director, manages and performs full life cycle recruiting supporting Alion. Identifies recruitment needs at all levels through a consultative partnership with hiring managers. Coordinates and implements recruiting strategies and directs the work of recruiters. The Recruiting Manager assists the Corporate Recruiting Director in developing and implementing recruitment strategies and employment programs which contribute to the growth and profitability of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements overall effective hiring strategies to meet the staffing goals of the Group.
  • Monitors and reports on recruiting metrics and results achieved by the recruiting team.
  • In a timely and cost effective manner, identifies candidates of a high caliber to meet Alion and our client’s needs and makes substantial contributions to the growth and profitability of Alion.
  • Conducts preliminary interviews and salary negotiations of qualified candidates, to include, professional and administrative level positions and presents qualified candidates to hiring management.
  • Provides timely statistics and reports regarding job openings and recruitment activity to the Corporate Recruiting Director.
  • Manages and supervises daily recruiting activity and provides day-to-day work direction for Recruiters.
  • Advises and trains management on hiring issues relating to HRIS, recruiting processes, Affirmative Action, OFCCP and other federally mandated employment regulations.
  • Ensures the ongoing maintenance of the HRIS database to include applicant tracking as required by OFCCP and other employment regulations.
  • Recommends changes to Corporate Recruiting Director on assessment of processes, procedures, metrics and resources to improve results and customer satisfaction.
  • Recommends job fairs, career fairs and other targeted activities to support recruiting efforts for the Company.
  • Gain an understanding of business needs and adjust strategies to successfully meet those needs.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

BS degree in Human Resources, Business or related field and at least 10 years of progressive recruiting experience. Previous experience managing, motivation and developing staff is required.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 14 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

PHR or other related certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Prior experience recruiting for government contracting industry.
  • In depth working knowledge of recruiting functions to include, OFCCP, Pay Equity, Data Retention, etc.
  • Excellent communications skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of internet websites for sourcing resumes and posting jobs.
  • Ability to assess recruiting metrics and resources for effectiveness.
  • Ability to use new and innovative recruiting strategies.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft recruiting applications is preferred. Other systems are acceptable.
  • Strong negotiation skills required.
  • Ability to demonstrate partnership with line stakeholders
  • Ideal candidate will have experience recruiting for DoD, Intelligence, and Special Ops positions
