A Secret security clearance is required for this position.

Associate Analyst for NAVSEA LPD Ship Class Managers, assists in developing and maintaining and tracking the Operations and Maintenance (OMN) budget and OPN budget using Microsoft Office based products.

Under the supervision of the government customer, performs assignments in the area of LPD Ship Class Managers, including data collection, compilation, and analysis. Assists in evaluating plans for various projects or program activities to meet requirements.    

Duties and Responsibilities           

  • Conducts analytical studies of navy ship repair and modernization operations and uses a rational basis for decision making or resource allocation.
  • Assists senior analysts in providing strategic solutions to government customer, based on analysis of data provided.
  • Operates in multinational, interagency, joint, and service unique environments.
  • Assists in preparing or coordinating the preparation of Microsoft Office based products as required.
  • Participates in working groups, program development forums, analytical activities, readiness exercises, training, education and other forums as required to accomplish contract requirements.
  • Under supervision of the government customer, assists in the development and monitoring of budgets pertaining to Amphibious Class ships.  
  • Assists in the resolution of project and program priorities.  Assures quality control throughout all contract activities.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related scientific discipline plus 0 – 2 years of directly relevant work experience.  
  • In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more comparable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) required.
  • Intermediate Skills in Microsoft Word:

-Work with sections, create templates, use styles, and customize them.
-Create and format complex tables, and manage table data.
-Create Mail Merges, sort and filter them.
-Customize Toolbars.
-Insert graphic elements. 
-Run and record Macros.

  • Intermediate Skills in Microsoft Excel:

- Create, modify, and format charts.
- Use graphic objects to enhance worksheets and charts.
- Filter data and manage a filtered list. 
- Perform multiple-level sorting, use sorting options, and design considerations.
- Use mathematical, logical, statistical, and financial functions.
- Group and dissociate data and perform interactive analysis.

  • Good communication (verbal and written), presentation, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA 21 organization, preferably maintenance and modernization program is preferred.
  • Familiarity of the Surface Ship Modernization program and Navy Modernization Process is preferred.
  • Knowledge of surface ship classes.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Junior level personnel, with some shipboard maintenance experience, separating from the Navy are encouraged to apply for this position.
