Job Description

Alion is seeking a highly skilled, knowledgeable, and motivated physical security analyst to support our Department of Defense customers.  The applicant will provide subject matter expertise to a team that develops and deploys software applications related to security assessments and inspections.  The position is based in Alexandria, VA.

The applicant will require strong analytical skills and must be a self-starter with great initiative and ability to work independently with minimum supervision.  Work requires analyst to be a team-player who interacts daily with the software team and weekly with the customer.  Must be able to interpret security policies and process and be able to communicate to the software team.

Duties will be under the general direction of the project and program manager and within the scope of the work derived from a contract with a government customer.

Duties:  The analyst will perform a wide range of tasks to support the development of software and security training solutions, including:

  • Developing solutions for customer requirements in collaboration with the software development team
  • Providing Physical Security subject matter expertise to project team
  • Participating in the daily team stand-up calls
  • Providing quality reviews of the products developed by the team.
  • Conducting briefings, software demonstrations, and technical meetings for customers
  • Interfacing with customers to coordinate meetings and events, provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge to user support, and perform general administrative tasks
  • Maintaining the project schedule in Microsoft Project
  • Performing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Ensure databases/datasets are up to date, managed and maintained in accordance with current customer regulations and policy.
  • Providing training to new and existing users on the application in-person and via the Web

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 or more years of experience in physical security
    • Educational requirements may be adjusted for applicable work experience
    • Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience
  • Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience in physical security, preferably related to the Army
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving capabilities
  • Must be US citizen

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with SMS(CM)-Web
  • Physical Security within the Army
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project
  • Familiarity with software development processes, agile development

  • Excellent verbal, oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible, prioritize, and manage multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Strong team player with the ability to both collaborate and to take initiative and work well independently
  • Superior attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines


  • Must be eligible and willing to submit for a secret clearance
