Position Summary:

Alion is seeking a highly skilled, knowledgeable, and motivated personnel security / personnel vetting analyst to support our Department of Defense customers.  The applicant will provide subject matter expertise to a team that develops and deploys software applications related to security assessments, inspections and personnel vetting.  Position is based in Alexandria, VA, but the work can be conducted in work-from-home capacity.  Occasional on-site presence may be required in the DC area. 

The applicant will require strong analytical skills and must be a self-starter with great initiative and ability to work independently with minimum supervision.  Work requires analyst to be a team-player who interacts daily with the software team and weekly with the customer.  Must be able to interpret security policies and process and be able to communicate the to the software team.

Duties will be under the general direction of the project and program manager and within the scope of the work derived from a contract with a government customer.

Duties:  The analyst will perform a wide range of tasks to support the development of software and security training solutions, including:

  • Researching customer’s security policy and procedures for inclusion in online training tools
  • Reviewing current security systems to either recommend improvements or create training on the system
  • Developing solutions for customer requirements in collaboration with the software development team
  • Providing subject matter expertise to project team in the development of design concepts, storyboards, training plans, lessons, etc.
  • Participating in the daily team stand-up calls
  • Providing quality reviews of the products developed by the team.
  • Participating in software training for clients
  • Conducting briefings, software demonstrations, and technical meetings for customers and potential customers
  • Interfacing with customers to coordinate meetings and events, provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge to user support, and perform general administrative tasks
  • Performing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 or more years of experience in personnel security
    • Educational requirements may be adjusted for applicable work experience
    • Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience
  • Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience in personnel security and/or personnel vetting, preferably related to the Federal or Department of Defense
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving capabilities
  • Must be US citizen

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with JPAS/DISS/NBIS applications
  • Security management experience within the Federal government, DoD preferred
  • Familiarity with software development processes, agile development

  • Ability to be flexible, prioritize, and manage multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Strong team player with the ability to both collaborate and to take initiative and work well independently
  • Superior attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines

  • Must be eligible and willing to submit for a secret clearance
