Enlighten, an Alion company is looking for a Senior Financial Manager to serve as the financial business partner to the Operational Management in support of the financial goals of Enlighten. Will lead a team of project controllers and develop and maintain processes that ensure the organization is meeting the needs of the business.  Responsible for enhancing the organization’s awareness and understanding of financial performance, financial scenario planning as well as the impact of management’s decisions on the financial results. Will have ownership of the organization’s budget, plan and forecast development and management.  Will provide financial analysis and financial reporting to accurately reflect the financial position of Enlighten and to assist in the achievement of financial results.  Serve as the key financial business analyst and liaison between Enlighten’s Management, corporate management, and all other support organizations by applying financial insight in performing projections and analysis of results. Will interact with all levels of management and staff to resolve problems and provide accurate, timely, user-friendly reports on program and project status.

Duties:

  • Serve as the principal point of contact on all financial matters for the Enlighten.
  • Be a trusted finance business partner to the management team and other members of the functional leadership teams, providing a financially biased lens and decision support to functional initiative.
  • Manages the Project Control staff, including recruiting, training, mentoring, and managing performance of new and existing Project Controllers.
  • Firm understanding of and on hands experience with the disciplines of Revenue Recognition, Cost Management, Planning and Scheduling, Risk, Administration, Fiscal Integrity, Change Management, Estimating, Contract Business Process Compliance and Margin Maximization. 
  • Strong Proactive Leader interfacing with Program stakeholders to identify, facilitate and resolve issues that may impact program objectives and performance.
  • Conduct periodic EAC project reviews across the enterprise using standard presentation materials, procedures, and methods ensuring that the Company’s critical contracts and program are performing as expected.       
  • Provide management with financial analysis and reporting to ensure costs are controlled and profits are maximized.
  • Provide meaningful, actionable insights, advice, and recommendations on Enlighten’s historic and future financial performance to the members of the leadership team.  Identify financial risks and opportunities and advise on the path forward to mitigate risks and maximize opportunities.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to the organization in cash optimization, business case development and profit improvement strategies.
  • Review and approve indirect purchases.
  • Participate in the preparation and review of pricing strategy and cost proposals.

Security Clearance:

  • A current Secret level U.S. Government clearance is required and therefore all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen.  Can hold a higher-level clearance as well (TS+)

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related discipline is highly required.  A Master’s Degree is preferred.  Educational requirements may be adjusted for applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
  • Must have 10 to 12 years of directly related finance experience in a government contracting environment (Department of Defense preferred).
  • Must have prior experience managing a small team of project controllers/finance professionals.
  • Must have experience with all contract types, especially Firm Fixed Price (FFP).
  • Knowledge and ability to ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley, Federal Regulations (FAR, DFARS, CAS) and all company policies and procedures as they relate to contract performance and financials.
  • Strong experience in project controls/financials.
  • Extensive knowledge of government or other contracting environment relating to financial accounting and billing.
  • Ability to understand and resolve complex financial problems effectively.  
  • Self-starter with independent curiosity to dig deep within details to find answers and propose/implement solutions.
  • Working knowledge of relevant software applications, including Microsoft Excel and Access.

Desired Skills: 

  • Previous experience with PowerBI and JAMIS is desired, but not required.
  • Any previous experience with AWS accounting/finance is a big plus.
