Job Description

Alion Science and Technology is currently hiring for a Senior Network Architect. This person will be responsible for performing project-based engineering, design, implementation, and troubleshooting of network and security solutions.


  • Oversee the technical implementations and/or troubleshooting of complex multi-site projects/solutions
  • LAN/WAN routing and switching design, configuration and deployment in small to very large and complex Data Center/Office including Internet Edge architectures
  • Oversee the technical implementations and/or troubleshooting of complex multi-site projects/solutions
  • Develop comprehensive design documentation
  • Must possess excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Exceptional and effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Provide technical leadership on complex projects and mentor teams of engineers
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and presentation skills
  • Provide network security subject matter expertise in the development of cloud strategies


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
  • 5-10 years of experience in an information technology related field in an enterprise environment
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and deploy networks and network security solutions
  • Working knowledge of SMTP, DNS, ICAP, Proxies, and networking
  • Experience with both wired and wireless networks including security devices and next generation firewalls
  • Industry certifications (CCNP, CCNA, CISSP, etc.)
  • Expert-level knowledge and experience with design, implementation and support of the following:
  • Complex routing and switching solutions ( ex: Juniper, Cisco, Arista) utilizing BGP, OSPF, ISIS VxLan ,EVPN
  • Cloud networking ( ex: AWS or Azure )
  • Next Generation Firewalls ( ex: Palo Alto)  Experience with Federal government and DOD standards for IA/security including DIACAP, FISMA, NIST, and OMB strongly desired
  • Experience with automated tasks and monitoring including: Programmable Infrastructure (APIs, Scripting, PYTHON, Perl, JSON) strongly desired

Must be a US Citizen with an ability to hold or obtain a Secret clearance
