Responsibilities/Qualification

The UI/UX Designer is responsible for the user interface, design, and experience elements to meet Huntington Ingalls Industries research and development objectives. In this role, you will work with on a suite of warfighter simulation systems called the Navy Training Baseline (NTB) to enhance and develop new capabilities for futuristic products. The UI/UX Designer on the Software Development team provides user interface support to modeling and simulation application development, live, virtual and constructive systems integration support,in-service engineering support, and data analytics user interfaces to US Fleet Forces (USFF) and the Number Fleets. The Software Development team is directly responsible, in this context, for developing and maintaining technical solutions and standards to provide the greatest level of training capability to the warfighter, at the lowest possible cost, at the fastest pace achievable.

We are looking for a passionate and talented UI / UX Designer to be a part of a fast-paced, rapidly growing, user-driven development team that is focused on architecting, developing, and maintaining these solutions.  

As a UI/UX designer you will collaborate directly with our users, product management teams and user advocates to understand the results our users need to achieve and develop sleek, modern, and intuitive experiences to get them. You will also engage with our program management team to understand our vision and produce marketing materials that tell our story in a way that is engaging with the community and aligns to the styles and branding of our products.

Duties:
•    Develop overall strategy for all NTB products from user interface, design, and experience perspective
•    Help transition workflows and other UI/UX elements to web standards
•    Work with teams to modernize existing interfaces and re-think current methods and workflows
•    Work with end users to determine requirements and build wireframes for new products
•    Work with the Enterprise team to integrate changes across the NTB product line
Required Skills:
•    Bachelor's Degree
•    4+ years of design experience 
•    In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted for applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.  
•    Experience in user experience, mobile, application, web application, user interface, or interaction designs  
•    An available online portfolio of work demonstrating experience in creating design solutions across multiple software domains (desktop, mobile, web applications)  
•    Experience working with a collaborative design team  
•    Experience in creating design flows, prototypes, and wireframes as well as visual design guides such as mockups and style guides  
•    Experience in Strategy or Tactical Video Games or military based wargame design solutions  
•    Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills
Desired Skills:   
•    Proficiency with web and accessibility standards  
•    Familiarity with UI code and concepts such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Material, and responsive design  
•    Fluency in best practices for mobile and web-based information architecture and design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques  
•    Ability to present to and influence design decisions between other designers, requirements analysts, and program leadership  
•    Ability to drive the design review cycle with a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment where vague requirements give us the opportunity to completely reinvent workflows with the power of technology and the efficiency of intuitive interfaces
•    Experience migrating legacy desktop interfaces to web standards

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.  US Citizenship is required.
