Job Description



Responsibilities/Qualification

Uses various types of technical and artistic skills to design and develop complex graphics and illustrations for use in technical and marketing materials, publications, internet websites and multimedia presentations and other materials for Alion and its clients.  Interacts with customers to determine needs and ensures satisfaction with the delivered product.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develops and produces artwork representing newly constructed ships as part of their Christening and Commissioning ceremonies.  Artwork will be based on the actual ship and include historically or namesake significant representations.  Artwork will become property of the U.S. government, but with full credits to the artist themself. 

Additional duties may include work with the graphic arts to department using of a variety of software applications to create, update or maintain technical materials, brochures, invitations, logos, stationery, presentations, websites, display items and other graphic material for Alion and its clients.

Interacts with customers to determine needs and follows assigned projects through from client meeting to design and production.  Ensures quality work and determines schedule for work assignments.

May collaborate with project teams to plan, analyze, organize and execute assigned projects.

Coordinates production with outside vendors such as printers as needed.

Keeps abreast of current trends and technologies in the graphics design and printing fields.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus 5 to 7 years of directly related experience.  Must be able to provide a portfolio of previous works relevant to this position. 

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by 
market survey data.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong skills in research via reputable sources is required for this position.

A security clearance of an appropriate level may be required after employment.
