Job Description



Alion is seeking experienced candidates holding an Active or Current Secret Clearance to support an active contract in PEO Submarines, a fast paced, dynamic environment on one of the largest DoD Acquisition program.  The position is located at the Washington Navy Yard.

Logistics & Maintenance Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for developing equipment status to include compiling status, resolving ambiguities, identifying and resolving maintenance issues, and providing consolidated report to FMS case managers. Review and write maintenance plans and procedures. Document existing processes by observation, interview, and research. Serve as designated Logistics and Maintenance SME representative with both the program office, NAVSUP, and field activities.   Gather/transmit information, coordinate, monitor activities, and provide maintenance advice. Provides advice and planning information on all logistical issues and plans.


Act as daily interface for information flow between the field, logistics branch manager and the customer.  Provide status reports of fielded equipment and identify any trends or ambiguities the may occur • Review and write maintenance plans and procedures for upgrades and proposals.

Experience with the operation/maintenance; maintenance support planning to determine skills, manpower, tools, test equipment, and facilities; and spare parts management.


  • Participate in, coordinate, consult and advise, relevant IPTs or ILS related working group meetings. 
  • Review and assess analytical reports on which product support development should be based such as RAM, FTA, FMECA, LORA, RCM, RBS
  • Support, review, provide input to, update, and help maintain Program and System Milestone Documentation such as:
    • Ship,
    • Design, Procurement, and Maintenance Specifications
    • Concept  of Operations (CONOPS)
    • Statements of Work (SOW) and CDRLs
    • Analysis  of Alternatives (AoA)
    • Class Maintenance Plan (CMP)
    • Reliability,  Availability, and Maintainability Plan (RAMP)
    • Integrated  Logistics Management Plan (ILSMP)
    • Life Cycle Support Plan (LCSP) and other logistics documents
    • Ability to understand logistics engineering background diversified across various Integrated Product Support (IPS) Elements to most effectively and efficiently integrate and leverage overlapping tasks. Knowledge of those elements should be prioritized as:

  • Recommend adjustments to logistics plans to meet unforeseen developments and new priorities.
  • Analyze organization logistics program objectives, policies, and any other associated aspects of operating programs to identify potential area trends or significant program accomplishments.
  • Initiate the development of logistic policies and procedures to explain regulatory and policy changes.
  • Perform research tasks to obtain a variety of cost, schedule and performance data.
  • Conduct cost comparison/benefit studies of current or projected programs for analysis for long range fiscal planning.
  • Analyze supply support systems to determine extent of problems.
  • Tasking will include daily office activities including executive correspondence preparation; executive meeting coordination and facilitation amongst senior staffs of Team Sub, Navy, and DoD; graphics review and preparation;
  • FIAR experience preferred


  • Bachelors preferred with eight (5) years of management level staff support experience and demonstrated ability in the following areas: Integrated Logistics Systems
  • Exposure to DoD and Navy weapon systems and DoD acquisition processes is a must.
  • DoD SECRET security clearance - Active or Current SECRET Clearance
  • 2 - 4 years Financial Management experience
  • 2 - 4 years Project/Program Management experience
  • Proficiency with the Web, MS Office and SharePoint
  • Some travel may be required
