Alion Science and Technology is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of a Systems Engineer for their Advanced Modeling and Simulation Technical Operation. Under the direction and guidance of the leadership team, this person would be responsible for:
- Developing and updating reference documents such as System Engineering Plan (SEP) and System Engineering Management Plan (SEMP)
- Designing, developing and maintaining the integration of engineering processes
- Developing improvements to current techniques and procedures
- Interfacing with the engineering team and customer on a daily basis
- Working directly with senior technical personnel and project managers in the planning and execution of technical activities on complex projects related to system and technical product development
- Facilitating the Systems Engineering Lifecycle, to include requirements management, design reviews, assessments of technology, testing, and V&V
- Facilitating Systems Engineering Board
- Designing, developing and maintaining tracking systems
- Preparing and reviewing input to technical reports, status reports, letters, technical memoranda, contract reports and formal briefings. May author or co-author technical reports
- Performing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors in related field with 2 years of work experience, or Masters and 0 years of experience
- Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience
- Experienced with the systems engineering lifecycle phases
- Basic understanding of CMMI V2.0
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Experience with certification and accreditation principles and practices
- Experience in auditing, process documentation, workflow definition, and analyzing gaps
- Self-motivated and driven desire to succeed with minimal direction
- Able to effectively handle multiple concurrent priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- CMMI Certification (Associate or Professional)
- Experience working directly with engineers and engineering managers with attention to process
- Experience with Atlassian products, particularly Jira and Confluence
