Staff in this position provide a wide application of principles, theories and concepts in their field and provide solutions to a wide range of difficult problems with imaginative and thorough solutions. He or she is familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures. He or she relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals and performs a variety of complicated tasks.  Participates in and oversees the process to maintain technical documentation on all projects to include parts lists, drawings, work instructions, etc. in accordance with industry standards.

Acts as primary interface between management, customers, suppliers, and specialty engineers in the systems development process.  Performs integration management and configuration control for technical system development.

Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics.

Manages requirements for technical programs.  Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements.  Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.  Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development. Designs interfaces and brings system elements together so they work as a whole.

Contributes to top-level functional design of technical systems.  Performs analysis to support the design and development of technical systems (life cycle, failure, availability, repeatability, statistical).   Identifies and manages cost, schedule and technical risks associated with product design and production.

Leads and documents the design review process for CTI technical programs. Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation. 

Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.  Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.

Researches new technologies, approaches and applications for use in current and future development efforts.

 Familiar with Life Cycle Environmental Profile (LCEP) testing within MIL-STD-810.  Provides guidance on typical Product and DOD Acquisition Lifecycles. Maintains up-to-date technical documentation on all projects to include parts lists, drawings, and other pertinent technical information.

Works with vendors to procure parts, components and services as required to complete development efforts.

Contributes to reports, presentations and customer meetings when necessary.

Works on proposal teams providing technical support through components/parts research and the preparation of technical approaches.  Provides inputs on cost estimates based on quotes from manufacturers and experience with similar projects. Compiles inputs from multiple stakeholders to develop and manage project schedules.

Requirment:

Current Secret Clearance

BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering

5 or more years’ experience in Engineering or related field.

Technical writing, manuals, documentation development as required.

Proficiency in Risk Management

Familiarity with creating and managing project schedules; Microsoft Project proficiency desired, but not mandatory

Familiarity with reviewing mechanical drawings and GD&T practices within ASME Y14.5 is desired, but not mandatory

Experience with conducting or reviewing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is desired, but not mandator
