The successful Task Manager candidate will lead Tasks for development, design, procurement and manufacturing of unique systems that directly support the warfighter. This position offers significant opportunity for satisfaction by working with an experienced technical team to provide support to projects of critical national importance. The Task Manager is the primary interface between customer and subject matter expert teams. Responsibilities encompass successful Task execution to meet and exceed all technical, financial, schedule, programmatic and growth objectives.

The Task Manager:

  • Leads a technical team through project engineering phases:  requirements definition, engineering design, prototype production and testing, qualification and production. 
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish work.  Familiar with a variety of the project management field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Develops schedules and budgets, manages execution to achieve task requirements within budget and schedule.  Collaborates with the Program Manager, Chief Engineer and Financial Analyst to ensure all scope, schedule and financial objectives are achieved.
  • Develops documentation under CTI's Project Management Framework (PMI PMBOK based).  Oversees development and filing of project documentation.  Develops, manages and updates as required.
  • Prepares presentations and leads customer meetings.  Generates Task status reports. 
  • Coordinates carefully with partners who perform related work that interfaces with CTI’s work on schedule, technical issues and delivery/receipt of various components for further work.
  • Collects, documents and manages customer requirements, including establishing and refining priorities and developing Task plans and making corrections to resolve performance shortfalls.
  • Applies knowledge of principles and theories in his/her field during design review.  Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures.  Regular use of ingenuity and creativity is expected. 
  • Works with vendors to procure parts, components and services as required to complete development efforts.  May develop relationship with vendors as required.  Leads others procuring materials.
  • On a Task basis, coordinates with manufacturing department to ensure proper fabrication, construction and assembly of hardware.
  • Develops quotes/proposals for Tasks per customers’ requests.  Supports contract or contract change negotiations.  Participates in proposal efforts for new contract vehicles, providing guidance on appropriate technical approach.
  • Coordinates with the Division VP, Directors, other PM's, Manufacturing Managers and Proposal Managers.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
  • Knowledge of and expertise with the IC and/or DOD.
  • 2-3 years of progressive leadership experience in managing engineering Tasks.
  • 7 of the last 10 years working in acquisition, systems engineering, computer science, engineering or training producing deliverables for government customers.
  • 3 years of experience managing Tasks valued at least $500K.
  • Experience managing fixed price and cost-type contracts.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • Analytical skills, attention to detail, judgement, communications skills, planning skills


  • Master's degree preferred.
  • PMP Certification desired.
  • Mechanical Engineering degree with design experience
  • Experience in cost estimating
  • Demonstrated experience with Quality Management Systems and process improvement, including Lean Six Sigma
  • Experience developing and implementing strategic planning
