Job Description

Alion is looking for a leading-edge senior test engineer with innate curiosity and ability to visualize technology transfer to meet current mission needs and support acquisition of needed capabilities.  Will support the U2 Systems Program Office in acquisition of modern radar and sensor capabilities for the U2 platform.   Functions as part of the U2 representative team to appropriate Wright Patterson AFB, OH, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center SPOs and Divisions.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan system-level Developmental and Operational Test (DT/OT) of software and hardware components (radar, antenna, mission computer, cybersecurity, health, and maintenance) to validate system performance requirements and verify system effectiveness and suitability.

  • Plan and conduct various test reviews to evaluate and/or recommend potential Course of Actions (COAs) to leadership, improve systems engineering events/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and validate, verify, or otherwise direct  system level tests to assure adherence with approved specifications
  • Participate in Program Management Reviews (PMRs); systems engineering reviews, and any other design, verification, or test related event as required.
  • Prepare technical documents and provide recommendations on system related characteristics.
  • Prepare management reports and conducts technical presentations for planning, implementation and corrective action using application of DoD and USAF engineering principles.
  • Develop criteria and procedures for system validation. Analyze and/or evaluate results of major engineering system reviews.
  • Provide system/program engineering, technical support, technical training, and design verification to support programmatic acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, validation, deployment/fielding, installation, and operational oversight.
  • Implement Information Assurance (IA) and cyber security standards to develop basic architectures, functional requirements and product designs.
  • Performs system security evaluations, including risk assessments, test plans, procedures and system design mitigations.
  • Apply Government test and evaluation concepts and related engineering principles, acquisition, and operations activities as needed to support the T&E activities and for the execution of Engineering Analysis
  • Understand and assess system performance requirements for testability and prioritize Test & Evaluation objectives that can be used to enable future evaluation and planning activities
  • Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders and Systems Engineering (SE) team members for the review and implementation of critical Test & Evaluation related information.
  • Understand and employ concepts capable of informing evaluation planning such as functional baseline reviews, in-dept analysis, risk and issue tracking, dependency identification, schedule constraints, Modeling and Simulation, and performance assessments


  • BS degree in Science or Engineering with preference in Electrical Engineering. Master’s degree highly desired with 12 years’ work experience.
  • At least 8 years' experience must include hands-on acquisition engineering support
  • Expertise in test program management including understanding of DOD formal acquisition
  • Experience in acquisition program security procedures and documentation.
  • Experience with and/or understanding of DoD program/project management techniques, processes and documentation.
  • Experience in technology development, concept development, and creating technology roadmaps and insertion plans strongly desired.
  • Ability to pro-actively lead and/or collaborate successfully in a dynamic work environment
  • Demonstrated strong proficiencies in communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills, and dealing with ambiguity
  • US Citizenship and ability to attain DOD TS/SCI clearance
