Job Description

Alion Science and Technology supports the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC PAC) and United States Marine Corps (USMC) program for Command, Control, Communication, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Networking-On-The-Move (NOTM).  Under our contract, we enhance C4ISR NOTM systems to keep pace with advancing technology; reduce size, weight, and power (SWaP); and deal with the transition of satellite communications (SATCOM) bandwidth to a Department of Defense (DoD) governed band.  Alion has supported NIWC PAC's development and fielding of NOTM systems to enhance deployed USMC tactical SATCOM systems since 2009.  Our analysis, research, and development efforts have resulted in the successful fielding of multiple Ground Combat Vehicles (GCV) and Airborne Point of Presence variants, GCV Staff Vehicle variants, Engineering Change revisions, the Tactical Modem Kit, and the Tactical Power Supply.  We also supported NIWC PAC’s collaboration with the Army’s Tactical Network (TN) program to achieve commonality in the design of components for NOTM and TN systems to realize cost savings through economies of scale.

Alion Science and Technology has an immediate opening for a Warehouse Clerk in San Diego, CA.  This position supports the NOTM program with inventory control, procurement tracking, and shipping/receiving activities in an office and laboratory environment.  This position contributes directly to NIWC PAC’s direct support of Marine Corps System Command’s NOTM material solutions that integrate new and advanced SATCOM capabilities on various ground, air, and sea platforms to meet current and emergent needs.


The Warehouse Clerk will work at NIWC PAC, San Diego, CA (Point Loma) and be responsible for providing procurement and inventory logistics support to the NOTM program.  Only candidates in the local San Diego area will be considered, and minimal travel is possible within the local San Diego area.

The selectee must have at least 3-5 years of supply chain experience with knowledge of Marine Corps logistics systems and processes highly desired, including Global Combat Support System – Marine Corps (GCSS-MC).  Additionally, the selectee will be able to work independently, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and leverage critical thinking to meet the job duties and responsibilities listed below:

  • Organize storage of NIWC PAC Code 55122 equipment and materials
  • Create and maintain a complete and accurate inventory database
  • Barcode and track assets in accordance with DoD and local policy
  • Use MS Office software to prepare government forms, including DD-1149 and DD-1348, to process equipment transfers and disposition, and work with receiving unit/party to ensure all equipment is signed for
  • Produce records and reports as required and in accordance with audit standards
  • Assist with shipping and receiving of large and small equipment
  • Examine shipments and invoices for accuracy of specifications, quality and completeness
  • Prepare shipments (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling)
  • Stage, load and unload shipments, and organize inventory
  • Be able to independently lift and move large lab and field equipment items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Operate a forklift and perform preventative maintenance
  • Comply with all prescribed safety and security protocols, and administrative policies and procedures

As a requirement for selection and continued employment, candidate must also fully comply with all current Federal, state, and local government COVID-19 requirements, and any additional NIWC PAC directives.

Education and Experience

High school plus 3-5 years of experience in supply logistics or related area.  Preference given to direct experience working in or with USMC supply chain.

  • Forklift license/certification
  • MS Access proficiency
  • Familiarity with USMC communication systems
