Job Description
Responsibilities/Qualification
Alion Science and Technology is seeking an experienced 3D Environment Artist / Texture Artist with strong observational skills and an acute understanding of form, shape, structure and silhouette to support 3D asset development for incorporation into simulation / gaming environments. The successful candidate will create high detailed, real-world scale, 3D models targeting simulation and training industry standard gaming engines.
This position is located in Orlando, FL. The successful candidate will be a member of team of artists creating game-based virtual environments from existing CAD models, point cloud, photos and videos. Responsibilities include developing a wide range of 2D and 3D content for real-time simulation and training applications, as well as helping define and support the production pipeline. This position typically works under general supervision and direction.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate’s portfolio will showcase a strong knowledge of the following:
• Effective polygon use with clean topology and quad-focused modeling
• High and Low polygon modeling to real-world scale
• UV Layouts
• Light map UV layout for Unreal
• Normal Mapping
• Mesh Optimization
• Texel density
• Physically Based Rendering (PBR)
• Texture maps
Required tool knowledge:
• Autodesk 3DS Max
• Adobe Photoshop
• Unreal Engine 4
Preferred skills and knowledge include:
• Familiarity with development for game engines (Unreal Engine 4, UDK, CRYENGINE, Unity)
• Particle effects
• Experience gathering own reference and photos
• Lighting
• Mechanical rigging
Education and Experience
Four-year college degree, in an animation or art related discipline, plus 3-4 years related experience. Strong understanding of and experience with 3D graphics development pipeline. Must demonstrate the ability to match existing styles and techniques to create a cohesive look and demonstrate superior attention to detail. Able to prioritize, complete multiple tasks and work under deadlines. Must communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form. Must be able to take direction and critiques while working with various members of a team.
The ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance may be required.
