Position Summary

At Alion, we are looking for an experienced chemist to perform organic/inorganic data review and instrumental analysis in an exciting work environment. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review laboratory analytical data in accordance with EPA National Functional Guidelines.
  • Provide laboratory support including sample preparation and instrumental analysis.
  • Prepare technical reports documenting results of data validation and analyses.
  • Perform peer review of technical reports of others
  • Review and provide comments on presentations and specification documents

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related scientific discipline plus 2 years of directly related experience.
  • In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 5 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
  • Instrumental Analysis experience is required.
  • Experience reviewing analytical data packages in accordance with EPA protocols is required.
  • CPL lab experience is preferred.
  • Must be US Citizen; no sponsorship available.
  • Applicant will successfully complete Public Trust Certification prior to final hire.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Strong attention to detail while carefully processing precise analytical data
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral), including basic knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Ability to think critically and exercise judgment
  • Good understanding of chemical/physical principles, theories, and established methodologies
