If you are an Amazon Web Services (AWS) practitioner looking for your next challenge, Alion is hiring dynamic, customer-focused, and motivated technical AWS individual to help accelerate our growing US Government customer-base.  This opportunity allows you to assist Alion’s Management and Technical teams shaping and delivering a company-wide strategy in AWS partnership.  We recommend that candidates position for success by having background or familiarity with the IC ecosystem and related software and systems.

Successful candidates will develop and lead a team of flexible, talented individuals to apply and coordinate the application of advanced AWS principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.  Responsibilities include:

  • Be the subject matter expert, bringing a deep understanding of AWS technologies as well as the broad knowledge-base for working with and using the AWS Cloud Platform;
  • Own the development of a technical strategy that leverages and grows capabilities of technical staff and teams through exceptional technical design and through leadership;
  • Develop solution architectures for the AWS and C2S cloud including storage, networking, compute, and security services using best practices and a thorough understanding of AWS technology offerings;
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies in work process and innovative approaches to completing scope of work;
  • Work with industry best practices for security, standards and compliance for designing and implementing large scale cloud computing solutions leveraging collaboration and sustainability; and
  • Coordinate preparation of technical content for proposals, proposal work statements and specifications.

    In conjunction with project, program and corporate leadership, successful candidates will establish and maintain a strong customer relationship that includes organizational stakeholders in related agencies and offices.  Responsibilities include:

  • Formulating, documenting, designing, testing and implementing DoD compliant, cloud infrastructure technology solutions that meet requirements with innovative thinking and creative approaches;

  • Leading detailded technical discussions around design and solving client issues, including white-board sessions, small technical presentations and large group overview;
  • Communicating technical challenges and risks effectively; and
  • Creating, building and extending productive business relationships with fellow technical experts in Cloud Computing.

    Successful candidates will show through their resume and the interview process their leadership and technical skills as evidenced by previous work experience and strong technical collaboration orientation.  Paramount to success will be excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

    Candidates are required to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or related technical discipline plus 10 years of experience;
  • Certified at least as an AWS Solution Architect (Associate level is acceptable);
  • A DOD TS/SCI is required, or eligible for a SCI immediately upon hire.
  • At least 3 years of technical project leadership experience;
  • 1-3 years of experience in implementing and managing Amazon Web Services-based infrastructure. Familiarity with a wide range of computing platforms (e.g. Windows, Linux, routing, security, etc.); and
  • Hands-on experience in configuring and managing Amazon Web Services based technology platforms and capabilities, including the configuration, tuning and deployment of cloud services in AWS and C2S.
  • Background working with, and supporting, Federal Government Civilian and Uniformed customers

    Preferred qualifications include:

  • Understanding of fundamental cloud computing concepts
  • Experience with Information Assurance concepts and processes within the Federal government
  • Knowledge of and experience with Federal security regulations, standards, and processes including NIST, and FedRAMP; and

    AWS Certifications, further certifications may be required within the first 30 days of employment.
