Job Description



Responsibilities/Qualification

This position will provide engineering and architecture support to voice and data RF systems on a dedicated enterprise Navy training network. You will participate as a member of a network engineering and operations team supporting an enterprise Navy training network distributed globally.

- Responsible for design, development, documentation, testing, implementation, and support of RF communication architectures, technologies, capabilities, and solutions that are integrated into a globally distributed enterprise network
- Support the full life-cycle of communications and network engineering solutions for connectivity between and among shore sites and ships with voice and data communications over radio systems and IP network networks
      o This includes working cooperatively with other engineer disciplines to understand the behavior and requirements of a simulation or C4I systems which integrates into the voice communications architecture as well as implementation of applications on computer systems
- Develop supporting documentation on voice, network, and systems architectures and capabilities including requirements documentation, architecture drawings, information assurance documentation, test plans/results, configuration change documentation, implementation procedures, operating procedures, and maintenance procedures
- Work cooperatively with the NCTE cybersecurity and IT engineers to ensure that architectures are compliant with the current cybersecurity guidelines
- Create and submit Bill of Materials (BOMS) for hardware, software, and other resources required for development and implementation
- Develop architectural and technical briefs on the design, capabilities, and functional operation of networking, voice, and radio technologies and projects for peer-review with Network Engineering and other divisions
- Support the implementation and execution of the installation and transition plan including physical installations and system configurations at local and remote CONUS and OCONUS sites and ships including remote radio sites
- Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on computer, network, radio, and antenna systems including patches, updates, and policy configurations of Operating Systems, Applications, and HBSS
       o Additional duties include support for additional network engineering tasks as directed, development of network engineering equipment lists and Bill of Materials, documentation of existing network and system topology and architecture, providing briefings to government and contractor representatives on network engineering tasks.  This position will report to the Network Division Manager and will be a member of a team lead by a Senior Communications Network Engineer.  This position may have management responsibility over additional junior team members.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline, plus 2-4 years of demonstrated experience in radio communications, navigational or sensor systems, microelectronics/controllers including design, architecture, operation, and engineering.  In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted for more than 6 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.

-CCNA Certification and Security+ Certification required. 

-Knowledge and experience in terrestrial and SATCOM RF communications systems and  cryptographic support systems
-Knowledge of LAN and WAN networking design, equipment, and transport topologies including GRE, Fiber Optics, VLANs, and IPv4 subneting
-Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals including OSI model, frame and packet structure.
-Ability to perform physical installation, corrective, and preventative maintenance of network, radio, and antenna systems.
-Experience with Land Mobile Radio IP enabled systems.
-Experience with configuring applications on Windows/Linux operating systems including patches, updates, and configuration files.
-Knowledge of modeling and simulation, link, command and control, and VoIP technologies
-Ability to design, develop, document, test, and field networking capabilities incorporating security, high availability, flexibility, and remote administration
-Strong ability to visualize overall view of systems and conceptualize and document technical solutions.
-Strong technical network troubleshooting skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues within multiple systems, RF environments, and IP networks.
-Experience writing technology briefs, white papers, test plans, and presentations
-Experience with Department of Defense Security Technical Implementation Guidelines
-Experience with NSA Type 1 KG cryptographic devices.
-Familiarity with VoIP technologies and systems
-Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
-Must be willing to support periodic travel CONUS and OCONUS.

Must be a US Citizen and possess an Active Secret clearance.
