Responsibilities/Qualification

Monitors, analyze and assess Shipbuilder’s performance of ship design and construction contracts to include collecting and analyzing cost performance data reports; identify cost, schedule, and performance trends; preparation of reports and graphs to present status to IPT and senior managers.  Integrate IMS schedule analysis with EVM analysis and assist with planning and execution of Integrated Baseline Reviews.

Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline plus 2 to 4 years of directly related experience in technical program planning, administration, budgets, and development.
  • In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 6 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
  • Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act of 1990 (DAWIA) Certification is a plus, but is not required.
  • Ship construction or ship repair experience is required.  U.S. Navy or U.S. Coast Guard ship construction or ship repair experience is ideal.
  • This work may occur within an industrial field office, outdoors and/or aboard ship while the ship is undergoing construction, alteration, activation, overhaul, repair and/or underway trials.  Walking and climbing throughout the ship, in order to accomplish ship checks, will be required.  Exposure to high noise levels, uncomfortable temperatures, heights or other industrial safety conditions will require use of personal protective clothing and equipment. 
  • Familiarity with basic ship design criteria, standard shipbuilding practices and change documentation.  Understanding of ship’s drawings and specification documentation.  Technical ship construction coursework, a plus.
  • Must be able to operate personal computers and have good knowledge and operational abilities with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook E-mail, Access and Project), Adobe Acrobat, and Windows Explorer. 
  • A SECRET security clearance will be required after employment.
