Responsibilities/Qualification

Position Summary

Alion is in the process of exciting change and growth! As part of this journey, we are seeking a high-energy marketing and communications generalist to manage our corporate communications activity, including media relations, events, digital channels, collateral development, and employee communications. Working with direction from the executive leadership team, the Corporate Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and executing timely, quality, cost-effective internal and external communications that support the company’s business strategy.



Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage an integrated communications strategy that includes brand marketing, internal communications, and business development support across traditional and digital channels
  • Manage corporate and executive media relations, including drafting and issuing press releases as well as coordinating interviews and byline placement
  • Identify and support Alion’s presence at external events, including trade show booths, speaking engagements, or recruiting activities
  • Write and edit content across channels, including internal announcements, intranet articles, emails, talking points, fact sheets, presentations, press releases, video scripts, web copy, and more
  • Provide oversight and management of Alion’s external website, working in conjunction with internal stakeholders to ensure information is accurate and supports business goals
  • Design and develop corporate, cross-channel advertising campaigns, including KPI tracking
  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders in the development of communications plans as well as associated assets or collateral
  • Maintain consistent Alion branding across channels, both internal and external
  • Manage key vendors according to budget and priorities
  • Monitor and report results to optimize communications strategies
  • May select, train, develop, mentor, and supervise staff
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline and 7+ years of relevant experience supporting marketing or communications in a corporate or agency environment

Qualifications

  • Ability and willingness to perform in a fast-paced, McLean-based headquarters environment
  • Proven success in brand management, external relations, and internal communications
  • Ability to quickly and accurately translate technical information into engaging content and campaigns for multiple audiences
  • Exceptional project management skills; able to work independently on multiple assignments while maintaining high-quality results; deadline- and detail-oriented
  • Ability to develop and manage comprehensive, multi-channel marketing and communications plans that support organizational goals
  • Superior interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to develop effective partnerships at all levels, including managing stakeholders with differing views
  • Ability to translate data into actionable insights; experience using analytics tools to communicate outcomes and ROI
  • Experience with WordPress or similar content management systems, HubSpot or similar marketing automation platforms, and Google Analytics
  • Positive, can-do attitude; flexibility, adaptability, and business acumen
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; design software experience a plus
