Responsibilities/Qualification

Position Summary

The Corporate Insurance Manager will be responsible for the administration of risk management and loss prevention programs: investigation and reports on all accidents involving organization products, in coordination with insurance companies and attorneys; and provide assistance in reviewing insurance and risk management programs for effectiveness of coverage and to reduce insurance costs and losses.

Duties and Responsibilities:


Primary Function - Corporate Insurance Functional Responsibilities

  • Compile underwriting data for insurance renewal to include professional liability, commercial auto, commercial general liability, all risk property, workers' compensation, management liability, nuclear liability, financial lines coverage, and etc.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to promote and enhance insurance programs and processes.
  • Working with Finance to coordinate payment of insurance.
  • Report all insurance claims to the appropriate insurance carriers.
  • Participate in all claim reviews to control costs that can impact Alion's ERM rate.
  • Review all contracts, subcontracts, lease agreements to ensure compliance with Alion's practice and policies.
  • Coordinate certificate of insurance and auto ID cards with Alion's insurance broker.
  • Assess and administer the transition of new insurance for company acquisitions.
  • Develop benchmarking exhibits and reports for various insurance program lines.
  • Liaise with Internal Audit to ensure that all open items are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain regular communication with legal and management regarding all open liability claims or claims that have a financial impact on Alion.
  • Assist with annual budget preparations. Track and report all discrepancies.
  • Update and maintain the various SharePoint sites; (Risk Management Information System, Global Mobility and Overseas Risk Management).
  • Support the Human Capital Department on special projects as required.


Global Mobility:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact on all aspects of immigration and internal mobility processes and programs, advising leaders and applicable employees on laws, regulations, timelines and processes.
  • Serve as case manager to answer questions around immigration and relocation programs and processes from employees, managers and HC partners, and looping in external partners when necessary.
  • Administer relocation benefits to new and current relocating employees
  • Administer the International Assignment Agreements to include COLA, LQA, post differential hazard, danger pay, per diem, dependent education allowances.
  • Familiarity with Department of State Standardized Regulation to address oversea allowance questions.
  • Manage procurement and invoicing processes and tracking for immigration and relocation spend.
  • Ad hoc projects and reporting.


Safety, Health and Environment:

  • Work with Alion's SH&E officer in identifying risk hazards and provide safety recommendation
  • Provide safety training and other support to the business lines
  • Coordinate ergonomic assessment and other special accommodations with Human Capital Department and Alion's insurance broker.
  • Organize and coordinate site inspections with Alion's insurance broker and ensure responses are provided back to the carrier.
  • Ad hoc projects and reporting.



Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or a related discipline and 3-5 years of relevant experience supporting Risk Management. 

  • Ideal candidate will also have experience supporting Global Mobility and SH&E.
  • (CIP, ARM, CIC, CRM, other other) preferred.Licensed
