Position Summary

Provide technical analysis in the development of present and developing technologies. Analyze emerging operational and functional requirements to support the formulation, development and assessment of doctrine, strategy, plans, concepts of operations, and tactics, techniques and procedures in order to provide the full spectrum of Cyber Warfare and enabling capabilities to the warfighter. Conduct technical analyses and provide an assessment report on the integration of cyber requirements, capabilities and training. Perform assessments of cyber warfighting capability and the utility of new and emerging technologies. Institute and document a formal planning process to analyze assigned missions for CO capabilities and recommend solutions. Develop and evaluate offensive cyber solutions and Provide assistance with the development of matters and coordinate with subordinate units on the identification, documentation and processing of forms required to express official operational requirements.



  • Provide SME in trend analysis, network / system architecture, and network protocol analysis to assist squadron personnel and mission support for Cyberspace Analytical Support.
  • Provide SME experience in performing system analysis and project management of the overarching group systems.
  • Provide support for information sharing and group coordination between leadership and operations personnel, to include subordinate organizations.
  • Perform SME level support in the development of existing and emerging technologies being investigated, acquired, fielded or sustained.
  • Provide support in developing, enhancing and guiding exercises and training events, as well as, use extensive technical knowledge to identify and correct or enhance operations and operation's personnel effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with government personnel to develop, enhance and support the requirements cycle to ensure proper collection and documentation of the operational need is provided to leadership and development community.

Education and Experience:

BS in Computer Science or a related field with five (5) years of experience or MS in Computer Science or related scientific/technical field with three (3) years of experience; or equivalent combination Network Operations and Correlation /Trend or Malware Analysis. Five plus (5+) years of experience working in CNO; minimum two (2) years of operational CNO planning and integration.

    Job Description:

    Alion is currently hiring for a Cyber Operations Support Technician to support our prime contract in San Antonio.  The candidate for this position will:

  • Conduct Offensive Cyberspace Operations (OCO) and Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) using established tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) to achieve objectives
  • Assess and reverse engineer network nodes and infrastructure devices (to include operating systems and software applications) to determine capabilities, functionalities, limitations and vulnerabilities
  • Conduct specific cyberspace actions in support of intelligence operations
  • Participate in research and development as well as operational testing and evaluation to determine possible new or modifications to existing capabilities
  • Collaborate with other DoD, interagency and Joint Forces to apply forensic and reverse engineered TTPs to determine the extent of the battle damage sustained during cyberspace attacks
  • Provide support for 24x7 Cyber Network Operations (CNO) during non-core business hours
  • Employ the Plan, Brief, Execute, and Debrief (PBED) methodology
  • Job Requirements:

    Security Clearance: Top Secret w/ current SCI – Willing to take Polygraph and comply with SAP requirements

    Education/ Certifications: Degree in Computer Science or a related Field with two (2) years (BS) of experience or five (5) years of related experience. Cyber certification qualification(s): DoDI-8570.01-m IAT Level II (Required), Linux + (Plus) (Preferred)

    Relevant Experience: Comprehensive knowledge of computer operating systems, software applications, database concepts, common programming languages and hardware components. Also, understanding of networking fundamentals to include protocols, network addressing, network infrastructure, and data communications. Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) 1B4X1 or 3D052or like experience (Preferred)

    Key Requirements: Training/experience with various unclassified open source tools and concepts to include but not limited to: Microsoft, Linux administration, PowerShell, VMware, Putty, Buffer Overflow and Techniques, Privilege Escalation, Rootkit, Redirection and Triggering, Tunneling, Encryption, Secure Enclaves, Boundary Protection
