Responsibilities/Qualification

 

Alion is seeking a lead level cyber security professional to support our internal Cybersecurity Practice. The position reports directly to the Chief Information Security Officer.

Summary of Duties :

  • Help create and maintain a safe operating environment for Alion’s infrastructure by protecting network boundaries, designing hardened computer configurations, managing key network devices, and providing security services to protect highly sensitive data
  • Work with a broad range of devices and technologies to review and monitor systems for attacks and intrusions
  • Use data aggregation and analysis techniques and tools to provide valuable insight into the security posture of Alion’s infrastructure
  • Evaluate third-party tools and applications to ensure that all technologies are designed with security in mind, follow industry best practices and are compliant with applicable guidelines
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as required


Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Information Security/Assurance, Computer Science, MIS/CIS, Cybersecurity program or a related field plus 8 to 10 years of related experience

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for comparable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required Skills - Demonstrate Fundamental-Level knowledge in Three or More of the Following:

  • Authentication and access control
  • Network protocols and secure network design
  • Endpoint security/management
  • Operating system internals and hardening (e.g. Windows, Linux, OS X)
  • Applied cryptography and security protocols
  • Vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, and remediation activities
  • Risk management and mitigation strategies

Desired Skills -

  • CISSP, CEH, Security + and other certifications desired
  • Ability to work in a team-centric environment
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Experience reviewing, update or creating information security policies, procedures and processes in order to enhance system security documentation
  • Experience executing white, gray or black box security assessments and complete detailed reports that outline the findings and recommendations
  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders at all business levels
  • Strong presentation, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance after employment
