Responsibilities/Qualification

Position Summary

Provides technical support and troubleshooting to users by diagnosing and repairing common hardware and software issues.


Duties and Responsibilities   

  • Responds to and diagnoses a wide range of more complex problems through discussions with end-users.
  • Provides phone and help-desk support for local and off-site users; applying diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes, and recommend solutions.
  • Participates in the installation, configuration, and upgrade of computer hardware and software.
  • Provides end-users software troubleshooting and support.
  • Provides network troubleshooting and support.
  • Provides telecom troubleshooting and support
  • Assists in the administration of e-mail systems.
  • Escalates difficult problems to higher levels.
  • Tracks and logs help desk incident reports.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned.
  • Provides guidance to less experienced Help Desk personnel.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Ability to travel local to other office locations if necessary.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.  


Education and Experience   

Note: Primary location will be McLean.  At times it may be necessary to work from Fair Lakes, VA (Fairfax) office.

Associate's Degree in a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience and 5 to 7 years related experience. Minimum of 2-4 years of hands on technical experience.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for comparable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of PC applications, PC hardware and other network devices.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications hardware and multi-function copiers is a plus. (VOIP preferred)
