Responsibilities/Qualification

 

The Detail Design QA Manager will develop, direct and coordinate quality assurance processes and procedures across multiple geographically separated teams to ensure Detailed Design products – 3D Product Model and Manufacturing Information - meet internal and external standards and expectations. 

The Detail Design QA Manager will also be responsible for ensuring the timely and effective implementation of changes to delivered detailed design products to minimize cost and schedule impact.

The Detail Design QA Manager will have significant experience in quality assurance and control in detailed design and/or production environments, along with excellent team leadership and coordination skills to drive their teams to success. 

Responsibilities

1.      Establish Quality Assurance Procedures

Review, enhance and develop quality assurance procedures and processes to ensure Detailed Design products support the needs of all stakeholders.  Stakeholders include those from Functional Design through to Production. 

2.      Establish Processes for Implementation of Change

Review, enhance and develop procedures and processes to ensure timely and cost-effective implementation of approved changes to Detailed Design products. 

3.      Direct and Coordinate Quality Activities

Direct and coordinate local and remote quality assurance/control activities, ensuring full awareness of, and compliance with, procedures, processes and systems, and providing oversight during the QA/QC process. 

4.      Direct and Coordinate Change Implementation Activities

Direct and coordinate local and remote change activities, ensuring full awareness of, and compliance with, procedures, processes and systems, and providing oversight during the Change process. 

5.      Manage Staff Assignments

Manage the activities of the Detail Design Quality/Change Team personnel to ensure provision of timely support to all activities, allocating resource as necessary to meet schedule priorities and expectations of stakeholders.

6.      Addressing Quality Issues

Promptly address quality issues ensuring that errors and issues have minimal, if any, schedule impact, developing recovery plans and implementing corrective action as necessary, and keeping stakeholders fully informed. 

7.      Maintain Quality and Change Records

Maintain centralized detailed records of Detail Design quality assurance/control and change activities and issues, including checklists and delivery documentation.

8.      Analyze Quality and Change Data

Analyze and assess Detail Design quality assurance/control and change data to find patterns and areas for improvements, and utilizing this data to improve processes and performance and identify opportunities to enhance productivity.  

9.      Evaluates the Effectiveness of Quality System 

Designs and uses performance measures to monitor Detail Design Quality/Change performance and evaluates the effectiveness of the quality system, including balanced scorecard, management reviews, internal audits, feedback from internal and external customers, etc.

Qualifications/Skills

(a)    Proven relevant experience in quality assurance/control, detailed design and/or production roles;

                           i.          Experience in design complemented by experience in a complex production environment is preferred;

                          ii.          Shipyard experience highly desirable;

                         iii.          Experience with 3D design/modeling highly desirable;

(b)   Excellent numerical skills and understanding of data analysis/statistical methods;

(c)    Significant leadership and technical team management skills;

(d)   Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with diverse internal and external stakeholders at all levels;

(e)    Ability to handle multiple priorities with independence and good judgement; and

(f)     Ability to influence stakeholders, manage challenging situations, provide strategic direction and think critically.
