Enlighten, an Alion company is looking for a DevOps Engineer/Trainer with prior experience with Big Data Solutions, Cloud technology and experience training others.  The ideal candidate believes in exploring alternatives and quickly prototyping to validate hypothetical architectures or solutions.  Passionate about the concept of infrastructure as code and leverages modern tools to define, build and manage virtual infrastructure in the cloud.  Understand how engineers approach problems, how they learn most effectively, how successful trial & error builds confidence and common body of practice. Will be hands-on 50% and training 50% of the time. 

Will significantly contribute to the development of custom software components and integration of open source code to address complex time series analysis problems through the use of cutting edge Big Data/Cloud technology. Sharing your technical expertise at conferences and other tech events.  Design and implement core architecture and capabilities for software from prototype to operational applications. Delivery will be done via interwebs, which creates an extra layer of complexity.  Must understand software engineering fundamentals, OO programming, relational and time series databases, scripting knowledge and a basic level of development operations (DevOps) skill set. Apply experience working within an AGILE software development life cycle, including requirements creation, sprint planning, and grooming, etc. 

Security Clearance:

• A current Secret level U.S. Government Security clearance is required and therefore all candidates must be a U.S. citizen.  Can also consider candidates with a current TS level clearance for this role as well.

Required Skills:

• BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or similar.  Educational requirements may be adjusted for applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering or Software Development (Java preferred).
• Must have previous experience training 20+ people/customers.  
• Must have a current Security+ certification.
• Must have experience with Cloud related technologies such as Hadoop and NoSQL databases.
• Must have prior experience with Distributed Computing and Big Data. 
• Have a solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, applications and proficiency in shell scripting (Shell/Bash, JavaScript, Python).
• A deep understanding of writing, running, maintaining and debugging applications in one or more of the following technologies: Java (Scala, Spark, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Spring), DevOps (Git, Python, Bash, Puppet, RHEL7). 
• The ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing as a presenter, documenter.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills: presenting, documenting, troubleshooting.
• Demonstrable experience authoring developer documentation (tutorials, blog posts, docs).
• The ability to be effective working independently or contributing in a team environment.

Desired Skills: 

• Experience with AWS is highly desired.
• Prior experience or familiarity with our Big Data Platform is a plus.
• Data parsing/transforming techniques to include JSON, XML, CSV formats.
• Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites. (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github Enterprise, etc.)
