Job Description

Alion is looking for a highly motivated and self-sufficient Platform Engineer, DevSecOps to work in multiple projects with the DoD and other government customers.

The successful candidate will engineer, install, configure, monitor, maintain and troubleshoot cloud and hybrid applications and hosting platforms in an environment that embraces DevOps philosophes to empower the implementation of tools and processes which enable the rapid development and deployment of software, continuous integration/deployment, automated quality checks, and operational metrics that can be consumed by development teams. 

The position requires a strong understanding of hosting cloud applications that leverage the AWS technology stack as well as a solid understanding of the Linux server platform. This role works with operations and project teams to deliver product engineering and production application support.

In performing this role, the successful candidate will manage cloud, virtual, and Linux server environments by providing application team support, installing software and updates, monitor server performance, managing server access, and building new servers when needed.  The role will also lead the DevOps efforts and incorporate CI/CD into project and daily work efforts.
 

Position Duties Include:

• Install, configure, automate, and monitor various cloud services, server, and other web hosting technologies.
• Administer and manage multi Linux server environments.
• Assist in-house development teams with application/platform integration issues such as security/permissions, Service configuration, and network issues (name resolution, firewall port flows, and load balancing).
• Create, improve, and manage automation scripts and efforts for more timely and accurate version deployments leveraging Jenkins, GitLab, and Artifactory.
• Ability to deploy, manage, and troubleshoot multiple Operating systems.
• Ability to deploy, manage, and troubleshoot virtual networks including security groups, access control lists, and load balancers.
• Identify virtual and physical infrastructure issues which impact the functionality of the application and hosting platform.
• Perform operational engineering for activities which include platform upgrades, patching, monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Provide periodic off-hours on-call support for production systems per team rotation.
• Implementation and periodic testing of business continuity plans for supported hosting environments.
• Communicate and troubleshoot issues across multiple stakeholders in the organization. Interaction with people at a variety of technical and management levels will occur daily.
• Identify opportunities to script operational procedures to reduce manual effort.

Job Skills
 

• Expert knowledge of Linux Administration and its varients (Ubuntu, CentOS, BlackArch, etc)
• Strong network and VPN skills
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• GIT Repositories
• Experience with SEIM Software (e.g. Splunk, LogRhythm)
• Automation and scripting experience
• Working knowledge of AWS
• Working knowledge of IaC
• Working knowledge of CI/CD
• Working knowledge of Microsoft server infrastructure
