Electrical Engineer, Associate Patuxent River, MD

Position Summary

Alion Science is seeking a highly motivated and innovative thinking Associate Electrical Engineer.  This is great opportunity for graduate or junior engineer to apply the engineering principles they have learned and gain experience for continued career growth. Under the supervision of qualified engineers ideal candidate will provide electrical engineering support towards the design, integration and testing of electrical components, systems, subsystems, avionics, electronics, power trays, original hardware (mission computers, displays) and electrical interfaces for military aviation projects.  Design tasks may include power analysis, schematic and parts list generations and custom circuit board development as required by the specific projects.

Duties and Responsibilities 

-Apply engineering concepts, techniques, and procedures to support multiple project teams in the development of technical products. Assist in the Performance of complex engineering work in design, evaluation, planning, testing and operation in support of program level system development, engineering analysis and research.

-Support complex assignments requiring the development of new research concepts or improvement of current techniques and procedures. Apply advanced understanding and innovative use of concepts and principles in performing assignments.

-Work closely with senior engineers in providing solutions to complex problems and technical issues.

-Contribute to the preparation and review of major technical reports, status reports, letters, technical memoranda, contract reports and formal briefings.

-Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related scientific discipline with 0 to 2 years relevant work experience.  Degree(s) must be in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related discipline.

Experience with DoD/NAVAIR programs desired. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software applications, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project.

Ability to work independently within a team environment and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with strict attention to detail.

Ability to solve complex system/integration problems through innovative solutions.

Able to communicate technical solutions and develop documentation required to support program technical issues.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance.
