Responsibilities/Qualification

Summary:

The Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) Electronic Warfare (EW) Database Engineer is responsible for the life-cycle software engineering of Navy Electronic Warfare (EW) Training Tool (NEWTT) data to meet NCTE EW interoperability objectives. This is a federation comprised of many distributed simulation systems and interfaces used to support Navy and Joint Training, as well as Navy concept development and experimentation.
In this position, you will be a contributor to the NCTE's software engineering activities in support of Fleet Synthetic Training (FST).  Our team provides modeling and simulation application development, live, virtual and constructive systems integration support and in-service engineering support to US Fleet Forces (USFF) and the Numbered Fleets. This team is directly responsible, in this context, for developing and maintaining technical solutions and standards to provide the greatest level of training capability to the warfighter, at the lowest possible cost, at the fastest pace achievable.

As the NCTE EW Database Engineer, you will receive prioritized requirements from the Software Development Lead, work under the direction of the Navy Information Operations Center (NIOC) Norfolk EW Database Manager and with NCTE Model Developers and Subject Matter Experts to achieve a robust, maintainable and effective EW database system. You will support technical requirements analyses, support development of technical solutions, implement designs, perform unit testing, and support systems testing and fielding of the NCTE EW Database.

This Engineer will be required to work with a team of developers and subject matter experts to develop, enhance, integrate, and support the NCTE EW database. The Engineer will follow NCTE's Software Engineering life-cycle engineering processes, as tailored for NIOC Norfolk. Primary development is done on Microsoft Windows platforms using C#, .NET, and Oracle PL/SQL.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline, plus 2 to 4 years of applicable experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 8 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.


Experience developing applications using Oracle RDBMS or Oracle related Databases
Experience developing .NET web-based applications on the Windows platform in a production environment is a plus.
Military domain experience is a plus. 
Shell scripting experience is a plus.
Simulation/HLA and Modeling & Simulation experience a plus.
Distributed Simulation/HLA experience a plus Modeling & Simulation experience/development a plus.
Understanding and familiarity with the following technologies:
- C#
- ASP.NET
- VB .NET 3.5 or greater
- Oracle PL/SQL
- RESTful, REST, SOAP
On-site support required.  Interface with customers on a daily basis.
Related technical certifications may be required.
Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work in a team environment is required. 
Current Security+ certification required

Must be a US Citizen.

Active Secret or higher security clearance required
