Position Summary

Under limited supervision, provides technical support in the areas of analysis, verification, measurement support, and equipment characteristics. Inspects completed mechanical components for quality IAW ISO 9001 and AS 9100 standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

Performs engineering computations, manually or through the use of automated analysis programs (e.g., propagation, intermodulation, and frequency assignment).

Performs calculations using formulas or concepts of algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or statistics.

Collects technical data from appropriate documentation (e.g., technical manuals and internal and external reports), automated files, and other staff.

Determines and interprets equipment characteristics data, performs necessary analysis, and transcribes to required formats.

Assists engineers in moderately technical aspects of project work.

Acquires a working knowledge of the organization's databases and of the types of information stored in each file.

Designs and develops engineering sketches, drawings, graphs, slides, and charts for preliminary or final reports or briefings.

Assists in the training of less experienced staff.

Assists in the preparation of appropriate technical documentation.

Prepares design drawings to assist in developing ideas generated by engineers.

Draws structural, mechanical, or electrical features of related structures and equipment.

Calculates and lays out dimensions, angles, curvature of parts, materials to be used, and relationship of various parts to the entire structure.

As required, verbally presents information at project review sessions and in informal interface with customers.

Complies with security procedures in the performance of duties.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Desired Skills

Familiarity with developing Bills of Materiel (BOM) for assemblies and parts off Technical Data Packages or via reverse engineering.

Knowledgeable in the use of specialized mechanical measurement equipment to include calipers and micrometers

Proficient in production QA/QC practices, and procedures.  Able to conduct quality control of First Article Units, prototypes, and EDMs – testing them against drawings for tolerances and deviation from specifications.

Prior employment in production / machine tool industry preferred

Proficiency in SolidWorks to include CAM

AS9100 Quality Audit Certification

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent plus any combination of relevant work experience and college education equivalent to 4 to 6 years of experience.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for comparable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
