Responsibilities/Qualification

Position Summary  
Alion Science and Technology is seeking Engineering Technicians (Level III) to support the Polymer Engineering and Underwater Sensor Branch (GXPS) within the Platform and Launch Systems Division (GXP) at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Crane, IN.  This position is to focus on high complexity products that require a keen focus to develop and optimize the assembly process and associated work instructions.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • This role is responsible for solving customer/assembly specific problems in the manufacturing process and ensuring process designs are achieving the highest efficiency.
  • The position requires reading and following procedures, assembling various cable assemblies, and performing electrical tests. 
  • Assist engineers in moderately technical aspects of project work. Assists in installation planning and staging for at sea deployment of undersea systems.
  • Assists in the training of less experienced staff and in the preparation of appropriate technical documentation

Education and Experience

Candidates must have at least 5 years of relevant experience with a high school education. 

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities

  • Position requires organized, detail-oriented, self-starting individuals who can work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Candidates shall have a strong working knowledge of hand tools and test measuring equipment.
  • Maintenance / technical experience in the following systems is highly desired:  Sonar Dome Rubber Window,  Sonar Composite Dome Programs; Surface Sonar Bow and Keel Dome Systems; Navy Advanced Signal Processor Program; Enhanced Modular Signal Processor; AN/UYS-1 & 2; TR-317, TR-333 and TR-343 Sonar Transducers and Hydrophones; AN/SQQ-89(V) System; AN/SQS-56 System; AN/SQS-53 System; AN/SLQ-32 System; OK-276 and OK-542 Towed Array Handling Systems; and AN/BQQ-5 System.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
